• More trouble for GM and Ford

I just heard this on the news radio on my way to work. I thought I relay it to you guys before I get too busy.

It seems that a lot of people are trading in there big trucks and SUV for econo-cars like Civic and Corolla. This is all due to high cost of fuel.

I heard that the demands for these two cars are so high that the cars are already sold before they're even off the cargo. The demand is so high that Honda and Toyota will be increasing their production.

GM and Ford salespeople said that they haven't been selling a lot of their popular SUV and Trucks for the past couple of months. As a matter of fact, a lot of customers within 50 days of purchase have been bringing them back. Main complain is fuel economy.

I didn't hear anything about Dodge truck or SUV having the same fate. But I'm sure they will.

that makes me sad, just b/c i love gm and trucks, but that's how capatilism is. if you can't supply people with what they are willing to buy, then you don't deserve to survive. that's why communism is the way...no hurt feelings there.

Wait, communism is the way to go just cause there are a lot of people out there that want better gas mileage? I am in no way seeing that connection. Communism brings about cars like Yugos, and we all want to be seen driving one of those.
GM is stepping up their mpg's by ways of displacement on demand and variable valve timing for their pushrod v-6's, just to name a few. Everyone will be producing 30 mpg 300hp engines in the near future. Why you'd want half the horsepower for 5 more mpg's is beyond me personally...

GM has been lagging behind the competition by years for awhile now.
They just finally put out a PT cruser like car (which I think it sucks, and so does the PT).
How many years later?

All of their cars are very bland, or weird and retro. The corvette being the only exception.
I wouldn't buy any other car from GM right now, on looks alone. None of them but the corvette.

Factory tuning parts? TRD? Nismo? Mopar? Nope.

honestly **** both companies... I begining to hate these rediculous trucks... They are retarded for not seeing rising fuel prices... maybe not as fast as it happened but they knew it was happening.

I just think it's funny how the oil companies are screaming "We're doing everything we can to keep prices low" yet they're all sitting on record profits!

According to my personal record, gas prices have more than doubled since "our fearless leader" has taken office. Funny how that works. If this keeps up, we won't even be able to afford gas for thos little Hondas and Toyotas anymore either.

time to buy toymotor stock, and SUV's/Trucks aren't bought for their awesome fuel economy. People are buying them as status symbols, they figuring out that they caint live that far out of their means.

I have to agree. It is a status symbol thing. Ever wonder why people buy corvettes when it only gets 14-22 mpg.

The fuel issue is not Bush's fault. Again everything get blame on him (even the cause of Katrina and Rita; plain stupid). Bush is pushing Congress to ok a bill that would create more oil refineries. Because we are so slim that when natural disasters happens that this becomes a disaster too.

We haven't built an oil refinery on our main land soil since 1976. This is because of the environmentalist and the Democrats that backs them up. And these are the people that has been blaming Bush for the increase in gas prices. Little do they know that gas problem is global, not just here.

Even if the bill pass today. It would take 12-20 years to build just one. This is because of environmental issues and strict regulation that has to be followed.

I wasn't actually blaiming him as much as using the start of his administration as a bookmark in time. ;) Relax... we're all stuck with him for another few years and I've made peace with that.

Seriously though, my comment was more a jab at the oil companies and an expression of utter confusion as to exactly what is the real cause of our current oil crisis. Yes, we have a HUGE refinery bottle neck, but I think that's just the tip of the energy-reaming-iceburg.
