  • How do you report someone to the Better Business Bureau?

First off I took my pickup to this shop to be fixed. I told guy who happens to be a mechanic of my dad (which he highly recommended but I didn't want too)that my silent shaft in the engine is slightly bent and throwing off the engine and needs to be replaced. This would require removing the engine.

What he did was replace the timing sprocket and charged me $140. OK, I drove it for one day and the problem was still there. As a matter of fact, the sprocket broke and oil was all over the place.

Took it back and then he said the whole engine should be replaced. I told my dad I would do it myself if I could use his garage, but he insisted that he's good and that I might mess it up since I haven't done something like this.

So he did it and I ended up paying him $1800. Which was alot more than I thought. Well when he was done I notice that he didn't connect the vacuums right and the air and fuel is not mixing right when the engine is cold. I have to wait for it to get hot in order to run properly.

A day after I took it out of the shop I cleaned my pickup. I found the whole roof was scratched from top to bottom and two small dents on my hood. Now I was really ticked off and sued him $467 to have it painted and repaired.

I won my first case and he appealed and I won again. He appealed again and a 75 yr. old judge gave him the win. I didn't appeal anymore because the court has already taken $300 from me. It's just not worth it anymore.

You don't know how many times I've fantasized about going to his shop at night and trashing the place. My faith and moral values are preventing me.

I already checked BBB sites and the ones in my area but no one wants to help me report this guy. What can I do?

I already appealed but they won't hear me. I don't know why, they said plaintiff can appeal once. But he appealed twice already so I don't understand what the rules are. The court clerks are not very helpful.

But I'm tired of missing days from work plus I'm still injured and might go into sugery soon. So I have no time for this.

But I do want to report him. How do I do that, that's what I'm after now.

He won because he lied by saying that the scratches were already there and that I use my truck as a workload truck which I put lumber and steele pipes. That's what he told the judge. Which was a total lie.

Plus he told the judge that I was complaining for being charged too much. And that I was trying to get back at him. A totally dishonest person he is.

Since both of them were old, I think the judge symphasize with him more.

I understand your morals and all that... but if I was in the situation I would either trash the place or break in a steal some stuff to get my money back.

Or you could also sue him for slander seeing as he lied to the judge. And I would go for about $100,000.... Make him crap himself thinking he could possibly lose that much money and watch him settle.... if trash his place for the trouble.

Not very smart at all. And as it is on record that he is trying to get back at the shop owner, guess who the police will see first

No he can't. Saying how the truck is used is not slander. Saying that he is getting back at the defendant for overcharging or whatever is not slander. But it does establish a motive for the trashing you wish to do.

Reporting to the BBB is easy really. Get the forms needed to fill out the complaint. But nothing is going to happen to the shop.

The judge didn't sympathize with him because of his age. He told a more believable story.

Yes it sucks. Tell everyone you know about the shop. Many, many TV news do undercover investigations. A tranny shop near me got stung that way. Charging for parts and repairs they never did.

                        I agree get a lawyer.
I also liked the idea about a undercover news agency.

Here is something I did. My ac broke on my firebird I took it to this shop I'd only been there a couple times. Well they said the ac compressor went out. I said fix it. Well the shop goes and gets $800.00 in parts, tried to tell me once I came back that you have to replace all of these parts to insure it will work and be under warranty. I said no way, and left without my car, as they wouldn't give it back to me until I paid for it.

So luckily my dad knew a guy who owned the building beside his, and the guy told me to make a sign and set it on his lot, So I ended up makeing a sign 4ft tall, with a big arrow pointing at the repair shop, and it read "these mechanics will rip you off"

I came back in the next day, and asked what they thought of my sign. I told them I'd pay for a/c compressor and their hourly rate which was posted in the shop. They said "no that the total bill was just under a grand" I left my cell phone number and said the sign would stay there.

A week later I get a call from the owner, who had just gotten my cell phone #, he was quite irrate, but he was resonable, he agreed to my terms and that the guys in shop were wrong and also mentioned they only had 3 people bring in their cars for mechanic work all week. haha His only request was for me to take down the sign that evening.

Sorry that was kinda long but if you can maybe find a place to put a sign of your own, telephone poll, etc. maybe
