  • What software to use to burn DVD-R data?

    Well this is obnoxious.

    I recently purchased a Lite-On SOHW-812 combo DVD-R DVD+R DVD-RW DVD+RW CD-R CD-RW blah blah blah.

I can make DVD home videos that play on my home theater DVD player just fine.

But it didn't come with any software to make data DVD-R's: i.e. backing up my files.

Did I miss something??? 4.7 GB of storage space is a nice backup, but this thing didn't even come with it?

I guess the equivalent of Nero but for DVD-R, not CD-R.

What software do you use and is it available for download free?

Nevermind, I'm downloading Nero 6 (I currently have Nero 5 which doesn't support DVD). Looks like Nero 6 supports DVD burning so I should be fine.

Its the free download but I can *cough* find my backup serial number here on the web somewhere...

Yep, that'll work. I usually use Nero6 for data stuff. If you want a great program to backup commercial DVD's, let me know. I threw it up on my FTP..

                Thank you for the help!

Locking now because people are talking about pirating software, which is wrong. Shame on you.

Nevermind the fact that I paid good money for this stupid DVD burner and now I have to pay extra just for the software to use it.
