    Fixed...

I have medical insurance pay ~$65 a month for it through my work. Its just ****ty health insurance. Sucks if I took full time like they wanted me to, I woudln't be in this mess. Even worse got boooted off my parents health insurance on jan 1, got diagnosed with cancer in april.

But I decided, I don't want ot be full time salary while still in school, because school is more important. So i took the higher paying part time job, (still got 30-40 hours a week)

Well guys the moral of the story is... make sure your life is straight and protected even more so then school, school is overated.

I know we all have at least $10 or $20 to spare. Add that up between enough members and boards and we can put quite a dent in his debt.

Guys don't worry too much about donating money, I appreciate the thought. But lets face it probably won't even put a dent in my bills.

Initially when my bills were like $13k I was ready to demod and sell the maro... and looking for mods for help, but once the number got rediculous, it bacame not worth it anymore.

camaroz28.com did round up ~$400 for me which really did help me out a bit when I was out of work during chemotherapy and surgeries. With my day to day bills and such.

I still racked up about $2500 on my credit card with those bills, but I can pay that down busting my *** at work which I just started back at recently.

I appreciate the thought, but ehh, I am gong to be wasting money on mods and other crap that isn't paying my bills down. I am alot of things but I don't want to be considered a scammer. if you guys are donating money then see me buy a set of gears o something.

It sucks and ideally I should work ot pay off my debts but lets face it I have to do something major to pay this off...

In theory I could pay this off if I paid $400 a month until I was 60 years old(so most my life) I am not going kill myself to put all my working money towards the bill. I am not religous but by the luck of God for the most part I beat of cancer and I going to live....

working to pay bills and not enjoying the life I have been given, is not a the way I want to live.

So honestly don't worry to much about donating, but if you do donate, I honestly swear, any money sent to it will go to my bills and only to my bills.

if you happened ot have donated and want your money back feel free to e0mail me and I will send it back.

Once again thanks for the thoughts.

              1. When health bills reach that ridiculous level, all you can do is think of it as Monopoly money because it is totally unrealistic to think a normal person can re-pay it.

              2. A little secret: from the biller's point of view, in most ways they think of it as Monopoly money too. Private pay (payable by individual people) health care bills are typically written way down on the books of the providers. Also, the bills they send out are at astronomically high rates that nobody takes seriously. Bills going to an insurer for reimbursement would show lower rates.

The bottom line is one declares bankruptcy if necessary. Don't run up loads of other debt in a futile attempt to pay the health care bills - it is impossible and just spreads the financial problem into other areas of one's life. If anything, you should buy a very good car BEFORE going into bankruptcy.

An alternative to bankruptcy (or if the bills do not get completely wiped out in bankruptcy) is to get in contact with newspaper and TV organizations and let them do a "real life" story on how ridiculous the health providers bills and collection methods are. That often has the effect of stopping the more egregious collection efforts.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Something needs to be done to put healthcare back in check.

It's absolutely rediculous to think that your average middleclass american can go out and buy an Sl65, but it seems to be OK to charge them the same price for medical services, because "it's their health"

Whats even more ludicrous is the price of insurance. My health insurance costs $700/month and it's ****ty as hell. Fortunately my work pays a little over half, but I'm still paying $300/month. I had to fork out $800 for my daughters ER visit. That's AFTER insurance. All she had was an xray, antibiotics, and motrin.

Eric, I would seriously talk with a lawyer and/or a financial adviser as to what your best strategy would be as far as dealing with this mess. Then take their advice. They will know the best way for you to stay on your feet as opposed to struggling for the next 60 years.

Oh.... I had a bundh of ER bills that I encurred during college and didnt have insurance to cover. I set up payment plans through the hospital, paid the much higher than ins. co. rates, and after 1 year I got a collection notice. I had been paying more than their minimum payments but they never told me that I only had 1 year to pay them off.... bastards.

"Something needs to be done to put healthcare back in check. "

Not easy. New treatments cure more things, but are expensive. Giving every American every medical procedure they could use is not possible, it would cost too much.

And the choice is just how much government control/insurance do you want? None, and there's nothing to stop healthcare costs increasing without limit. But many people are afraid that too much leads to inefficiency. The "exactly how much government do you want?" argument is always contentious.

And, the dirty little secret that no one dares speak (least of all a politician) is that, no matter what the system is, rich people are always going to get better medical care than poor people.

My personal idea is a basic government insurance program that covers basic things for everyone, for example, regular exams and flu shots. Clearly the country is better off if we help protect all citizens from getting common illness, more productivity. Then, private insurance for the tougher stuff. Still won't change the basic fact discussed above; we can't afford every medical treatment for every person. Some people are going to lose, but no one wants to admit that.

There's a lot the government can do. There are alot of frivelous lawsuits which is one big reason why costs are so high. The other reason is a lot of subpar doctors practicing causing legitimant lawsuits.

Then theres the issue of illegal imigrants going to the ER and never paying their bills.

So the government throwing BS lawsuits out before they make it to court, making it harder to get a medical license, and enforcing our boarders would put a big dent in the problem.

There is no reason someone who has a life threatoning illness shouldn't be treated. Just because someone can't afford treatment for cancer doesn't mean they should have to die because they can't pay.

Why is eric's treatment so much? Yea they have to have special transportation to get the medicine to the hospital. But don't tell me that it's to "cover R&D" How much money is donated to finding the cure for cancer? Everytime I go to the grocery store there's some kind of cancer fund raising.

This is Shelley, James's (firefighters) fiancee. I am a licensed insurance agent but I am not licensed for life/health insurance. It sounds like a bunch of you are getting ripped off with health insurance. My plan through work is $293/month, the boss pays $250 of it, I pay the rest. We have a group plan through Optimum Choice/MAMSI. I have a seperate plan for James through OC/MAMSI and his is about $170 a month with discounted dental. They are both great plans and cover virtually EVERYTHING with a small deductible/co-pay. I had uro-renal surgery a few years back and all I did was pay the $250 deductible for a surgery that would have cost about $15K without insurance.

** If you need help getting good coverage with a fair rate, contact me by email ( Shelley@jerice.com ) and I will be more than happy to refer you to someone who can help or see what I can do for you. Or if you have questions, please contact me. I will do my best to help you. Insurance doesn't have to be a rip off if you know what you are looking for. **
