Which is worse-bad teeth or not smiling?

I usually go out to the bars every weekend with a group of guys. One of the guys doesn't have the best of luck with the ladies. He smokes and some of his teeth are not straight. By no means is it hideous, just not perfect. He is self-consciousness of this so he doesn't smile. I think that since he doesn't smile that ladies don't want to talk to him since you doesn't appear friendly, outgoing, etc. He thinks that his teeth are a turnoff. What do you think is worse? Not smiling or bad teeth when trying to meet people.

Dunno. I have bad teeth too, but I can smile without showing my teeth...like this: [img]smile.gif[/img]

When I laugh, you can see my grille. :D

So I guess half and half, depends on the person I guess.

A smile isn't just teeth, it's the way the eyes sparkle too when someone smiles. It's the feeling we get overall, not just teef. ;)

The teeth are not bad. Nothing like Austin Powers. Myself, I would not approach women who weren't smiling. I will have him read this.

Before I was married, I use to go out with this Chinese lady. When she laugh or smile, she tends to cover her mouth.

Her teeth wasn't bad or anything. I ask her about that and she said that in China, people have bad teeth. So when they smile or laugh they cover their mouth.

Tell your friend to keep on smiling. But just cover it with his hand.

I think overall it's just gives a sense of self- conscienceness (is that a word?) if he wants to be able to talk to a girl he has got to show some kind of confidence. Plus smiling at a girl is a good way to see if she is even interested in talking to you, it's a good non verbal way of making first contact. Plus it's always a booster when you can get a cute girl to smile :D
