  • co2 pistols... question on oil for lubrication

I just recently picked up a Daisy Powerline 15xt. shoots 480 fps. i dont know why i bought it. just for ****s and giggles and for some target practice when im bored.

The last air rifle i had got rusted up and BB's seemed to slow down significantly while traveling through the barrel.

any recommendations on oil to use? I have all types of oils laying around the house from synthetic motor oil to the oil you use for hair cutting utensils...

I just noticed that and did an edit, my bad.

I used to be so into BB guns til my father let me fire his 30th anniversary chrome Python gun he was awarded for his tenure in the job.
        What a recoil!

Funny you ask this as I'm going to Walmart to drop off film and pick up the new issue of Engine Masters.
I could get back to you in a short while after I get my 12 pack of Heineken. I will have an answer by then.

                        Ok back from Walmart.
You need 2 separate packaged purchases: Remington Bore Cleaner and Oil, $11.
Also needed is a lot of pipe cleaners. I don't know how long your barrel is but the fancy sets they sell are for "shotguns only" according to the knowledgable but friendly Walmart salesperson with the fishing hat and happy beatnik buttons on his blue vest.

( I didn't know Sports Authority sold guns & ammo to jocks )

i just picked up some Rem Oil for the mean time. a buck 88..

i called up outdoor world (bass pro shop) and they said they do carry American Eagle silocon oil for BB guns. its just a good 20 mile drive out there for me. I'll go some other time and pick it up.

Sports authority USED to sell air powerd guns and paintball guns. They just recently stopped selling them for some reason. Ohwell..

                          Thanks anyway man

Just use gun oil (it should say whether or not it will stop rusting) and buy a gun cleaning kit for air rifles/pistols and it should be .177 caliber. Oil all metal surfaces lightly (you only need a film) and make sure to clean out the bore. You don't need to overdo it on lubrication, too much may jam your firearm or reduce its effectiveness.

Just get some KY and lube it up. You could shoot an egg out of it.
