You guys seem to enjoy giving advice about relationships, so I am sure you have no problem discussing mine at length.

I went ring shopping with the GF tonite. She found one that she really likes, and Zales has financing, so I am in good shape. It was only $800 too, I thought those kind of rings were a couple thousand dollars apiece.

A little about me: I am a 21 year old senior at Kansas state university. I will be graduating in 2 weeks. After graduation, I am getting commissioned as a 2LT in the Marine Corps. I am trying to fly fighter jets with the Marines. It is a decent paying job, and it will be tons of fun.

I met this girl 2.5 years ago. I moved out of the dorms and into a small town of 400 people, that is a few miles south of the school. I was 19 at the time. She had just turned 15 and lived across the street. She used to always come over to our house and cook for us(me and my roomates), play playstation, watch movies etc...
This went on for several months. She was a good friend. When she turned 16, we started going out alone, without my buddies. I would almost call it dating, But I still considered her the kid from across the street.

Fast forward to a few years later. She just turned 18. I am the only guy she has ever dated, or slept with for that matter. Before I met her, she had never been out of Kansas. I have taken her on a tour of the east coast, twice. Last summer and this summer. I have shown her the world, in so many more ways that, too. SHe is a total ankle biter. SHe would follow me to the end of the earth. Since I am in the Marines, she will probably have to.

SHould I tie the knot? She wants to, but she is really young, and she might change her mind later.

My parents had a nasty divorce when I was young, and my sister just ruined some guys life by telling to shove his engagement ring up his a$$. I am scared to death of marriage, but I really like this girl. WHat do you think I should do.

I dunno dude, I really don't think inexperience and long term relationships go well together.

She has never dated any other guys, right? That means she doesn't know what she likes. It doesn't mean you're wrong for her, but I'm telling you, the more inexperience that there is the higher the chances for failure.

That doesn't mean experience = happy relationshipville, but it sounds like you're already got it pretty figured out that she is the one for you.

I feel like I trained her from the ground up. She never used to be into cars or heavy metal. Her favorite band is Pantera now. SHe is about to buy a 97 TA. I think I am obligated to get hitched to her. I took a plain old country girl and turned her into exactly what I wanted.

This is too early man. She's just out of high school, she'll want to experience life when she goes to college. Never trust women when they're all nice to your face and all... they can turn around in a split second and your relationship can go from fire hot to ice cold in an instant. You probably aren't to experienced yourself, so you feel it's ok to settle... dude there are so many women out there. I don't understand whats the need to "tie the knot". Play around, try different kinds of women. They are all different, all have their advantages and disadvatages. I'm 21 and I'm not even thinking remotely about marriage. I'm not gonna marry til like 35 or some ****... gotta party while you're young.

And yeh, I wanted to be a pilot to (Ka-50 BlackShark that's what my sn means).. but I chose freedom over military. **** military. I don't want someone to control my life. I don't want to fight someone else's war.

But I'm enjoying the player ways. Tryin to get through college and live. And women... well, they are nice addition to life, however you're gotta keep your guard up with them. And only sometimes you have to let it down.

Dude, take it from me, date her for at least 3 years, then get engaged for a year, then get married. DO NOT JUMP INTO THIS!!
Look at me, I first married when I was 21, got divorced 2 years later. Remarried 18 months ago, and now going through possible seperation. Take your time, you are 21 and have alot of time.

Actually, you and her are the exact same as April and I. I was April's first for everything. As she gets older, she may want to experiment with other relationships. I think it's a phase all females go through. Just be careful.

Seems like she is a good girl... but women do change a lot during that age... I guess if you are really considering it you can purpose, but not have the wedding for a few more years? I know a lot of people who got together at 18 or 19 and stayed together for the rest of their lives [img]smile.gif[/img]

I'd say if you're just about to graduate and go into the Marines, to maybe give that a few months first. You're going to just start adjusting to a new career and life in the Marines; you wouldnt want to complicate things to much be adjusting to a new career, being out of school, and adjusting to married life all at once. I'd imagine that could create a lot of stress in all new aspects of life if only one gets a little frustrating at times. But I'd say if she's the one to definitely get engaged, maybe like someone else mentioned, just stay engaged for some time and then set the actual date once you're both fully ready for it.

I think I will go put the ring on lawaway. That way I can take advantage of the 20% off sale, and I will still have time to think it through more.

Even if I do give her the ring, the wedding won't be for a long time.

As for being a player. Been there, done that. I didn't care for it. I have been with plenty of chicks, and I am not interested in going to bars and bringing home one-time-use cumdumpsters. Sluts and players are the reason STD's are so prevalent. I don't want pimples and puss on my **** because I got drunk and needed to "get some".

If I want to party and have a good time, I do it:
-In my camaro at the track
-In my buddies stunt plane in the sky
