For those saying you only smoke when you drink, be careful. I have fallen into that trap so many times. Once, I would open a beer and drink a few gulps just to have a butt. Cap the beer and come back to it 2 hours later. Then I would light up before opening the beer. Then I just stopped opening the beer. The addiction is fierce and it will get worse.
It is interesting to note that multiple studies have shown Nicotine to be as addictive as Heroin and other opiates.
It's also interesting to note that some companies, such as Philip Morris, makers of Marlboro cigarettes, add a significant amount of so-called "freebase nicotine" to their blends. This substance serves no purpose other than to alter the chemical structure of the nicotine so that it enters the blood stream and reaches the brain more quickly.
Even more interesting, is the behavior of some Heroin and opiate addicts, who say things such as: "I don't want to quit. I enjoy getting high."
FYI, most of us know what smoking is doing to us. I'm actually surprised/amused about how many people their are at any given time, trieng to save our lives. Any other time they most likely wouldn't give a crap.
I know people are into popular/trendy things, but trieng to save our poor "nicotine addled" minds? wow. I soon expect people to start going door-to-door like Mormons.
On a side note, I've never been more regular since I've started smoking. Ahhh, relief!

If you would have actually read the post, you would have seen my point. The point is, bother someone else, you know.. like the important people in your lives?
Why do you feel like he's bothering you? You don't really have to participate in the thread, you know. It's optional.
And, let's not turn Thor's post into a flame fest. I, for one, am interested in hearing stories from people who are trying to quit and haven't been able to, have been able to, or even those who don't want to. And really, your posts are coming off as a little obnoxious and sarcastic. Nobody else's are.
i smoke and dont plan on quitting, i even started to dip also just to further hear people tell me how i am killing myself.
funny thing is i still can outrun a non smoker. dont know how that works but hey it does.
i tried to quit just because, the only reason if i do quit is so my kids dont grow up and smoke like me. it would really weird if i tell them not to smoke because it is bad for them and i go outside and light up a cig. but for reasons being i enjoy it and dont plan on quitting. if i do then i do. but not in any hurry at the moment
