• Just how many of you smoke

It really is a nasty thing to your health.

I went to pay my rent and this maintainence guy was hanging around the office. He tried talking to me but his words were low in volume and very hard to understand. And when he tries to talk, he coughs. It seems like a type of cough were he can't get the flem out.

Every time I see him outside, he is always smoking. He's a 6 footer but he looks like he only weighs about 100lbs.

The kicker though, he happens to be the husband of the manager. If I didn't know I swear he could have been her dad.

My manager is probably only in her 50's but he looks to be a man in his late 80's. There's a picture of them when they were young and I can definately say that smoking is ruining his health.

For those of you that smoke. Be careful of your health. I personally don't think smoking is worth it. Sorry don't mean to preach.

i dont but i grew up with my dad somking occasionally. its like red meat, this is what i heard dont quote me, on average people who dont eat read meat live about 8 or so years more. a couple of smokes or like one beer a day wont kill you but it does add up, the problem with america is we binge and drink massive amounts at once, kids drink wine with meals in europe. one alcohalic beverage a day or so is actually a lil beneficial for men because it thins out our blood and then we produce new cells, however the cons out way the benefits. women have periods that does that naturally.

just look at it the way i do, why do u need to smoke or drink, you are consuming poison(i dont drink or do drugs, im a lil pink fairy )

I have smoked on and off for 15 years. I quit (again) 6 weeks ago. This time I got my wife to quit, so maybe it will stick.

Smoking releases endorphins (much like caffiene does) so it "feels good". It is hard to convince your brain otherwise - which is why smoking is so addictive.

I wish I had never started smoking.

I've never smoked and don't really intend on it.

I also fully support the 'No smoking in public' ban. I agree that it's public property, but it's the same exact concept of playing loud music in public. You're disturbing the peace of others.

One non-smoker in a smoking room will make no difference, but one smoker in a non-smoking room will make a world of difference.

            I don't smoke.

            I hate it!

The guy I bought my house from was dying because he smoked too much. I found pic's from 5/ 10 yrs ago of the guy..... he has aged soooooooo much over the past couple years.

              Smokers are jokers!

The grossest thing is when you are cleaning out a room where someone has been smoking for a while and you take down a picture then realize all the walls have become much more yellow.

I smoke a pack/month. I think it goes great with a couple of cold beers.

I used to smoke about pack every frew days... Then about a pack a week... Now I've pretty much completely quit expect for a few while I'm drinking. I never really got hardcore addicted, and I really lost interest in smoking.. so its not hard for me to turn down cigarettes. I'm positive that soon I'll have lost interest completely, and won't smoke at all, regardless of how well it USED to go down with a beer.

I don't know too many smokers who think it's worth it, the problem is that nicotine is horribly addictive and it's terribly hard to quit and stay quit.

I personally believe that smokers who say things like "I smoke because I enjoy it." are simply in denial. Deep down, they do realize that they're slowly killing themselves.

Most smokers I talk to hate the fact that they smoke and have tried to quit multiple times.

I smoked 2 packs a day from age 15 to age 19. I quit smoking when I was 20. I didn't smoke another cigarette for 8 years. All it took was one cigarette, and it was like my brain just opened up the addiction locks, and I was hooked again. I have been smoking on and off for the last couple of years. I quit last year on Wellbutrin, and that lasted for 9 months. Once I went off the Wellbutrin, I was smoking again.

                          I'm currently on the patch.

I don't consider myself to be a weak person, but I have had so much trouble kicking smoking for good. I'll do fine for a couple of months, and then I'll be around people who are smoking, and I just break down.

I know a guy in his late 50s who hasn't smoked a cigarette in 20 years, and he still has dreams about smoking. Still gets bad cravings, now and again.

I'm not arguing with your post, quite the contrary, I agree with you completely. I just wanted to point out that until you're hooked on nicotine, it's difficult to understand just how addictive it is.

I tried smoking once while i was drunk. I like inhaled too quick and like spend 15 minutes coughing. that did it for me.

I smoke, and love it. The fact that it pisses people off is just a bonus.
