and convincing me to guit smoking and dipping with pics and stories really wont help the matter, seen stuff like that before. and qith cig prices over here it is next to imposable any way. a carton of iraqi cig is like 5 bucks. or a dollar for a pack, some are actually good too.

i smoke about a pack a day. ive tried quiting...4-5 times. ive tried the nicorette gum,cold turkey,and a few other things and nothing has worked. it seems like everytime i try to quit something bad happens in my life and i get stressed out and run back to my cigs.

if i could lock myself in a room for a month and not come out i could do it. my biggest problem is that im very high strung and nicotine calms me down.

i think smoking is just about the worst thing that you can do to yourself.

for those of you who do smoke there is a bunch of people at my nursing home who i would love you to meet who are on thier death beds from doing nothing other than smoking! and the stuff the cough up, etc is just that much worst.

Worst? I'm an EMT, I see things every day that make that that look like sesame street.

I agree w/ 3.4, if you know what your doing ahead of time, then you have no right to complain later. But, that doesn't give anyone else the right to try and "convert" me. I'll quit when I want too. I mostly smoke when I'm stressed. I'll admit, with my line of work, it's a crutch. But, it's a vice that I need and enjoy for the time being.

Oh, and noone is "bothering me", in this thread, lol. I'm just pointing out that certain people may not like being preached at over their personal business. If the shoe was on the other foot, with oh, say.. household finances, the same people would be all [img]graemlins/rant.gif[/img] and :mad: like some of us tend to get.

I will agree though, I'm a smoker, and even I think that dipping is totally disgusting. As is chewing a cigar instead of smoking it.

it makes it 10 times more difficult to quit when your friends and fellow employees smoke as well.

its not just the niccotine..


its the act of smoking thats very addicting as well..

if you dont smoke ... youre lucky. stay that way.

those people are the one that are bothering you, and all I am saying is that the reason behind it is, it affects more than you. I really couldn't care less if you can't breathe. 90% of my friends are smokers, if I were to alienate smokers I wouldn't have any friends. I choose not to smoke, and if it secondhand bothers me, I leave. Regardless, people deal with things different, some smokers are downright rude with their ciggarettes. That makes nonsmokers upset and more likely to bother you.

Me? im a very courteous smoker. I ask everyone around me if its cool if i light one up. cause i know for a fact that secondhand smoke bothers people.. .**** it even bothers me.

there is nothing i hate more than when say.. im eating.. and the person sitting next to me lights up a cigarette. with total disregard to anyone else.

Even in my own car, if i have people in the car, i will either ask if its okay. or just wait till we are all out of the car.

one of my friends, who will remain nameless.. is flat out rude. we were outside at hooters eating with a group of people, and he sits in the middle.. knowing he is a smoker. he lights one up. EVERYONE else is eating (about six of us). we all complain about the smoke and how it is annoying.

he doesnt do anything about it. just sits there and smokes his cigarette.

i hate rude smokers.

I don't smoke, but I envy smokers in the respect that they always able to take a break and walk outside and do nothing for 10 minuters.

I want a reason to walk outside and and do nothing for 10 minutes.

Smoking I will let pass, but dipping? 95% of the population thinks its gross, whatever, I don't care about other people's opinions either. Just saying that dipping to me is like 10 times worse then smoking when it comes to healthwise,imo.

Just curious, how many of you guys preaching about the dangers of smoking, drink a lot, or eat fast food? ;)

I don't smoke anymore, but when people preached at me about smoking, I'd go light one up just out of spite. People that smoke, know what it's doing to their bodies. They don't need someone preaching to them about how bad it is.
