• some advice needed, LS1 swap or not.....

My camaro has 151,508 miles on it. the car has road more road noise than any other camaro i have ridden in, but still has some balls left.

my car needs a new front bumper and a paint job, exsisting paint is ok, but the bra and two ditches have done some damage. It is paid off and very reliable.

Should I:
Do an LS1 swap, new suspension, paintjob, and eventually interior? or
Buy a camaro with LS1 and keep mine as a daily driver? or
Get another daily driver and strip every last part of my car for weight reduction and make it into a drag car?

With the LS1 swap i was thinking of getting a totalled Z28 or something to that likeness and putting that suspension, engine, and tranny in my car and maybe some interior stuff(not worried about interior right now.

Also money is tight, paintjob, would come from a friend and interior from me. I dont know what kind of isht i would be getting into with "THE SWAP" or what. i could do it in my spare time, but still think it would be cool to get a V6 into the 12's or something.

I am leaning toward "THe SWAP" but want to hear some opinions and/or ideas on what i should do.

thanks,
jeremy

New car with LS1. You're going to end up sinking way too much money in the long run on the conversion. If you had a 98+, I'd go for a swap, but since you're 1st-4thgen, definitely purchase a new car.

LS1's are getting much cheaper now a days..

THe only bad thing is that with a new car w/LS1 i would need alot of cash and thats not happening till two years from now after i get out of tech school.

Fixing up my 96 would kinda be a waist since it is suffering from the typical interior squeaks and door hinge stuff.

A/C dont work, IBCM is messed up, alt is screwy, needs paint. ummmmm dimmer dont dim,

i know this stuff is able to be fixed, but i havent paid much for fixing anything except for the tranny(shift kit fixed that) if i fix all the stuff i want to have a car worth the money being put into it. engine and suspension is first, but..... hmmm

i have decided to stay v6 till i get money, but by then the 2007s will be out so i will lean toward one of those,

until then though i have a cool intake idea, that i wont tell until its done.

but i need to know where people get the shiny piping and where they get the stuff mandrel bent. this info would be greatly grealy appreciated.

Jeez dude, you and me both. Sounds like your describing my car! But I'm personally going for the LT1 swap. I just paid it off and am about to score a LT1 long block which Im gonna rip apart and rebuild with forged internals(and then mabey some juice) . It's gonna be a long and expensive process, but it will be what I want in the end. I just hope I can keep the tired 6 running till I get all the swap parts rounded up .
