  • 487 HP ....BS or what????

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4562670338

As i was reading the description in my mind it was like blah,blah,blah..... I barely understood all the technical things this seller said. someone with more technical depth would understand what seller is saying. my question is that is it possible to have 487 HP with those mods?

given the amount of boost it runs i would hope it hit high 400s in the hp department

If he can really get 35 PSI into that motor I would say its definitley possible. Thing better be built like a freakin tank though. Didnt see anything about a huge intercooler or alcohol injection though so I dont know, he may be dealing with some hell of a knock.

even though i am mechanically inclined, doesn't he suppose to have some kind of roll cage or something to handle 400+ hp?

it could be true. you would be suprised what hondas can put out. 2 of my friends who have hondas run 13.9 right now wiht just an engine swap. soon as the boost goes on it i'm sure that he will be running 11's

487 Hp is believable... to bad it probably only make like 300 ft lbs. I don't know much about boosting RSX motors (or any honda motor for that matter), but don't most of them have problems with blowing head gaskets?

The only thing that discredits him in my books is he states in his specs that the car has a 1.7L VTEC motor, yet in his write-up he states he has a RSX motor swapped in (2.0L). So which one is it?????

And yeah, if it really does make 480+HP, its a time bomb

he said it was a J-spec motor...

I assume it could be different then the US counterpart...

RSx's are fast as ****, when modded right.

I never thought I would actually say this, but...

That is a good looking civic!

Pretty clean and if the engine is built for the 35psi I'd buy it. :D

ya its possible but there is no way that car is running 35 PSI, The big boys (Top Fuel Dragsters) run 45 PSI, and also at that kind of pressure you would have to have heavy duty clamps not the worm drive type that he has on there, I belive that poeple on here have blow hoses off held on by those type of clamps only running under 10PSI

I have no doubt he could be making that much power, as much as I hate to say it 4cyl's do have the potential for a lot of power. A guy in the car club at my school has street driven (even daily driven till a few months ago) SR20 240sx. Using a T66 turbo he's actually putting down 630whp and 450wtq-ish.
His car is pretty sick, and it can be driven anywhere without problems. Granted, he now hates it anywhere but the track because it spins tires till 100mph if he goes wot.

Turning up the boost on a nissan SR20DET (which is built for boost from the factory) is a little different then boosting an open deck n/a honda motor. Don't get me wrong I have respect for anyone who puts power like that down, but a honda that puts down big power reliably is a little harder...

onething i like about this civic (appearance wise) is how it has the camaro RS type kit on top of the spoiler...just like my camaro....i know that a typical 2002 honda civic with 40000 miles is about 12k - 13k. i don't get it why he is selling for only 15k while his parts costs a lot more. something fishy. For 15k i think thats one hell of a deal if everything is working the way he mentioned.
