Anyone with aspirations to a position of leadership who happens to be in possession of more than a minimal gathering of functional neurons should know that in order to be a successful leader/ruler, a punishment must never consist of seizure and/or destruction of the property of the perpetrator. Especially a crime so relatively minor as street racing.

I don't see anything like this happening to drunk drivers. And all of us, especially those who remember FirebirdJen, know they deserve it a lot more than some punk with an ego and a lead foot.

Something similar was suggested by Utah Senator Orrin Hatch. The plan he had in mind was that music downloaders should have their computers seized and destroyed. A punishment that everyone else said was overdramatic and based solely on the fact that Orrin thinks his CD isn't selling because people are stealing his music. Nevermind the fact he sucks. Or the fact that the only song on Kazaa which mentions his name is a funky guitar track by Frank Zappa.

Seize a car from a borderline suicidal ricer and crush it. That'll make him snap for sure. Any bets on how many officials said ricer would gun down in revenge for the act?

Same with the downloaders. Destroy the computers of a large group of downloaders and see what happens when the article hits slashdot, Fark, etc and works its way into the cracker underworld. The RIAA website "hacks" are nothing compared to the binary bloodbath that would ensue as a result of the destructive actions of a few people with god complexes.

Put them in jail, take their license away, whatever. But when you touch another person's property, you may just bite off more than you can breathe through.

But hell, if someone has spent countless hours and dollars on their car and the police want to take it from them and crush it, the sons of b*tches should be gunned down in my opinion. I mean, did the owner of that car get any kind of reimbursement for the wrongful destruction of his pride and joy? F*ck no!

I love that article though. It said 8 people had been killed this year in racing-related accidents. Hell I bet the LAPD has killed more people than that this year!
