For any of you that remeber I lost my job in the army as an Infantry Sergeant back in Oct 04 cause I lost my hearing and got hearing aids in both ears...(240B gunner)
So my wife said I could stay home and be with the 4 kids for a while(fortunetly she makes enough money to support us)...
That while ended up being 10 months....
Ive been hating staying home since the kids have ALL been home EVERDAY for summer vacation so I went looking for a job....
The first one was a GM car dealership with lots of GTO's....
They were gonna hire me but at the last second I turned them down...
6 days a week and 10 hours a day was just not worth it in my opinion...
Plus I didnt like the idea of people always calling me...
The money would have been nice though...
I would have gotten $400 for every car I sold after the dealer took there cut and taxes....Atleaste according to what the General manager explained to me in his office....
But since the money just didnt seem worth the time away from my family I declined...
The next job was Block Buster...Ive got some friends who work over there and they all really like it and think it's VERY easy...
I took the computer test and got an interview and got scheduled in to work and everything...
But once again I declined at the last possible second.....
I was only gonna get $7 an hour or roughly $800 a month after taxes....
Working on the weekends till midnight as well as days duing the week just didnt seem worth it...
Well Ive got this friend whos the second guy in charge at this stone mason company...
He's been trying to get me to come on for the past 10 months but Ive always been kinda intimidated...
THERES JUST SOMTHING WEIRD WHEN YOU ASK HIM WHAT THEY DO ALL DAY AND HE SAYS SHAPE POLISH AND INSTALL STONES THAT MADE ME NOT WANT TO DO IT...
Well I decided to give it a try.....
AND I LOVE IT...
We start work at 7 am and take a 15 minute brake at 1015 am....
Then we work from 1030 am till 1230pm and take another 30 minute brake...
Then we work from 100pm till 315 pm and close the shop by 330 pm....
We work monday-friday...
We get paid every Friday....
We get 100% medical and Dental for the family
Anything over 40 hours a week is time and a half pay...
They started me off at $9.50 an hour for the first month evaluation....
After 1 month It goes to $13.00
After 6 months it goes to $15.00
My friends been there for 5 years and makes 1,150 salary per week...Or roughly $900 per week after taxes....
The job is so relaxing....
I just put on my ear muffs grab my griding tools or saw or what ever I need and just shape the stone the way the customer wanted it...
No body bothers me all day.....
Then when we do the install we drive to some ones home and install the stone on there kitchen cabinets or wherever they want them....Kool to just go some where new every other day at work to do the installs for some happy home owners youve never met in a neiborhood you've never been to...
Im really greatful my friend hooked me up with this job...
The company ONLY has 10 employees and has a LONG waiting list for people who wanted the job....
Luckily cause my friend is the second in charge I was a shoe in even though I have 0 experience...HECK...He was even in the room with me during my interview and we too and the total Hawaii company overseer were all just cracking up....
IT'S JUST SO TRUE.....ATLEASTE 50% OF IT IS WHO YOU KNOW....NOT REALLY WHAT YOU KNOW...
