• The Reasons I love V8's

So I was riding around with my friend in his '98 Z28 today. It made me realize some of the reasons I love V8's.
-His car is so loud, it get looks from every head withing visible distance.
-A VW Golf pulled up along side of us and started revving it. He paced us for about 2 miles, revving it and flooring it. So finally my friend just revved it up to 5000 rpm once, and the golf just fell back slowly.... he didnt even pull along side of the us the whole time he was behind after that.
- The sheer power, so much torque down low, and then a lot of HP for top end.

What are some things you guys like about 8's

they are faster..

I also like the fact even if you are in the wrong gear, and at a low rpm, you floor it and you accelerate enough to pass people in traffic.

Where do I start? I've got V8's comin' out my ears :D

The LS1: It is an AMAZING engine. It sounds great, pulls like a mother from idle to 6000, and never runs out of breath. I love the feeling of nailing the hammer and just being stuck back in the seat and disappearing.

The Stroker: You want torque? It's there. You want power? Get the revs up. My stroker was built as an ameteur stock-car race engine. The previous owner built it strong and healthy with high compression and a big cam. Though I've yet to prove it, he said it was pullin close to 500hp and 500ftlbs of torque when he pulled it from his race car and put it in the truck before I bought it. It feels every bit as powerful as he claims. That truck flat moves, and moves very well for having only 4:10 gears, 38.5" tires, weiging in at well over 5000lbs and standing over 8' tall. Off road (which is where it spends 90% of it's time) is where it really shines. It feels like I have a bottomless cup of torque at my right foot.... if I can't get up an obsticle, just add a little throttle... and a litle more. I've yet to "HAVE" to put it to the floor for any reason off road.

The Magnum: Decent. The torque is nice down low, and it moves that heavy (6000+lbs) pig of a Dodge around pretty nicely. Hook up an 8000lb trailer to it and it's a different story. It'll rip that trailer out of the hole pretty well, but get it onto the highway and all appreciation is gone. This is partially due to poor gearing (3.55 with 33" tires is a horrible combo for towing). It struggles to hold 65 on the highway while towing a heavy load, and gets all of 6mpg while doing it. I'd love to (and hopefuly will soon) have a turbo 6 cyl Cummins diesel in it's place :D

Power and respect on demand!

The V6 always had something to prove to people, they didnt think it was a good car with decent power. But they see the Z28, they can just sit down and shut up.
Course I got it for more power, and had more options than my old V6, could care less what others thought.

My friends love the 0-60mph but I hate it cause they're 2.73s with my A4. Im like, the gears suck at acceleration, its about 70mph+ when it really shines and the LS1 pulls and doesnt stop
