my friend has a 5 spd 305 1984 z28 and it was a 15 second car. he then bought an edelbrock intake for $35 and a 600cfm edelbrock carb for $150 (which is 150 cfm less than stock) with only those two mods that thing flew. i gaurantee it was then a 13 second car. you may think im crazy but the car barely beat mine before, then SPANKED it afterwards. it was a 305 for sure and yeah, i could squak the tires hitting 4th.

my dad also had a monte carlo with a 305 that crapped out completely at 2500 miles on the clock so as i have seen personally and heard from others. the 305 is a hit or miss engine about whether you get a good one.

15 sec. was considered fast in the mid to very early 90's. Even Vettes were running that fast.

Besides, it's a Calif. car. It has all that smog devices and hook ups to it. Ofcourse it will go slower than your average car in other states.

Plus, the weather is poor for drag racing.

He doesn't have that much mod either. Look at those gears and I hope he didn't use 89 octane for racing.

hehas 2.73s... and the car is nearly stock with exception of exhaust.

It actually runs pretty good for a tbi 305 in my opinion.

he probalby spent less money on all his mods and the cost of his car then you did on just your mods.

It's TBI...those are like 400cfm 2BBL carbs in away. Believe me, my 92 RS was one...I was foolish enough to try and keep TBI and put a 454TBI on top of my 350 H.O. crate motor, didn't work out too well.

The guy I sold it to put an air gap manifold on it and holley 600cfm carb and the car runs 13's now.

There is nothing wrong with a 305 TPI.. Put a stealth ram on it, heads and cam, with some nitrous and you have a mid 11 second car..
