Drive-in here costs $4 for adults, $1 for the kids. It is the only wat we can afford to take the kids to the movies. Plus, we get to bring beers and our own snacks.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

The theater 10 mi away has every new movie out for 3.50 with a student ID, any time of day/night

I got a lot of friends who work at theaters tho, so I usually never pay anyway.

i used to have a sweet *** hookup like that. He worked for some company that delivered the movies to the awards cerimonys (grammys, oscars, ...) and the movie studios would obvioulsy want them to be seen in best quality so they were exact dvd's like months before they even came out in theater. it was awesome because it was actual dvd quality.

and than the sob moved away and now i am stuck with 8 dollar tickets

% Outside the theater at the movies.

Jerry: What do you mean he's bootlegging the movie?

Kramer: Well, it's a perfectly legitimate business.

              Jerry: It's not legitimate.

              Kramer: It's a business.

Jerry: Where did you meet this guy?

Kramer: He's a friend of a friend. You know Corky Ramirez up on 94th Street? One day he and I are playing Pachinko--

To me, being a sellout snitch about something that trivial is a lot worse than pirating movies. It's called integrity, son, check into it....

It is pretty lame to turn someone in for that. However, I've lied and told people on other message boards that I reported them to the RIAA to get them to stfu. It's funny when they get all pissed off and delete their entire hard drive's contents :D

Call down did I do? No. Did I right down peopels names when the teacher was gone? no, I was actually the one getting into trouble.

But I do have to laugh at the fact, I have no integrity for turning somone in for breaking the law.

Me: "Dude that old lady getting robbed!!! I gotta call the cops!!!"

You: "Come on man, have some integrity... don't snitch on him."

                      Me: "I guess your right"

I don't see how me snitching on him is bad though.

Lets see, this guy basically takes advantage of and sh|ts on other people to make a quick buck. Why can't I do the same, and likely make more of a quick buck then he did. He woudl have to sell 300 vids to make what I owuld make in a 5 minute phone call.

lol, <shurg> Stealing is stealing does not matter if you stole some gum or stole a car. It's still stealing. Just because one will give you jail time on a first offence and the other will yield some community service time does not mean your crime is any less. Society has "acceptable" punishments for each crime. Will my post chance your mind... Probably not... but you're still stealing and that's still a crime no matter how you try to justify it.

Look at it this way (HYPOTHETICALLY).... You created a very handy/helpful computer program. You start selling it. Well after your first month of sales one person (who has bought it) decides to sell copies for 1/4th what you charge and you see a huge reduction in sales after that. Once you loose 100K in sales I'd be willing to bet you'd go after the people who are profiting off your program while you are left out in the cold.

Once the tables are turned and you are on the losing end I'd bet you'd change your tune... Something to think about. If you look at this with an honest and open mind you'll see where you are wrong.

I'm not talking about old ladies getting robbed. Read the post before responding....you'll look a lot less stupid that way. I bet you're a Metallica fan too....I hope they all go broke after that whole Napster deal 'cuz they're a bunch of multi-millionaire crybabies, scared of losing a dollar or two.....same way for the movie companies. It's not like they're not making any money, and if someone bootlegs DVD's and sells them, to me that's a better way to make money than ROBBING OLD LADIES!

And besides,it's not like you'd be turning them in just because they're breaking the law. I can tell by what you say you'd be doing it for the money, which would make you a sellout. That's why I say you would have no integrity. And if anything should be against the law, it's that gay avatar of yours... j/k

Good point, but mustangeater's talking about turning people in just for a quick buck. Did he make these movies? Why hell no. The responsibility for catching these folks should be left up to those who make the product.

i'm not arguing whether the bootlegging is right or wrong, I'm just saying you're a snitch when you roll over on people just for your own benefit.

No but maybe I make around $18-20k a year at a movie theatre to pay the bills and pay for school while I am in college. Are there many jobs that pay $12.25 an hour, 3/4s my hours, I come in whenever I want 24/7 to do work, as much or as little as I want, and the rest of my shifts are very flexible I can get rid of a shift day in advance with no problems every other week. IS it alot of money? No way. Is it a fun job, yep enjoy it, most people at my work are 16-25, so its fun. But because of it I am paying for college, my car, insurance, gas, rent, power, the computer I am typing on and the internet service I am using.

Notice one trend, everyone said they are not gong to a movie theatre because of piracy.

I have lots of friends through work, that work at the movie theatre, one of them is 23, knocked his girlfriend of 3 years up and just got married, kid was born 3 weeks ago. I am sure as a projectionist and booth certifier, his job will be doing well when people sit at home and wathc pirated movies.

Hate to say it but are actors overpaid? Are producers, and directors overpaid? Yes I full heartedly agree, don't care too much about them feel free to mug them on the street.

BUt do you think the actors, do all the digital graphics? process the sound, hold the lights, make the costumes, do the makeup, make the cool cars that were in fast and furious ;) , write the plots, screenplays, extras, small time actors, deliver the thousands of films on a weekly basis to movie theatres nationwide, etc?

No. Don't use the excuse of SO Will smith gets $18 mil instead of $20 mil. Little more goes into the production of a movie then just some actor's pay. Lots of companies are supported by the movie industry.

Hey maybe if no one pirated movies last year, I would have made ~$1,000 (not stealing) and I could have a my t-tops already in, new spec clutch, rest of the stuff I need for my nitrous kit, and be in the 13s maybe 12s.

So maybe I am not "Just rolling over on someone for my own benefit" maybe I am trying to protect my livelyhood, by working honestly as opposed to stealing people's sh|t illegally and selling it on the side of the road. To make a quick $1

And jesus we are talking about movies here. Not like food and water. ARe you going to die or go into ill health, if you cannot wait till the movie hits the dollar theatre, when you cannot afford ticket at a new release place?

I never had an intention to turn this guy in, it was sort of a joke, but once again, sarcasm isn't really passed along the internet very well.

Now excuse me I am going to go steal a C6, the head guys at GM make tons of money, one C6, means they will only make $1,940,000 instead of $2,000,000  So its good, don't snitch on me!

Just to point this out ME..
if you needed an extra $1000 you could just work more
You said you can come in whenever you want and work as much as you want Don't go blaming the pirates.

I do think that is kind of cheap, selling them for $5. But whatever.. if it weren't for people like him, they would be trying to catch people like me ;)

And I would not hesitate to turn him in either.. like I know the guy? What if I were selling pirated movies down the street from him for $3 each.. I bet he would report me in a heartbeat!
Plus $1500 isn't exactly chump change That's a lot of **** for your car right there, or 2 months rent, however you want to think of it!
