To those living in apt complexes:

Do you find it difficult to take care of your car the way you want to? I wait til a cloudy day or dusk to wax my car just because there is absolutely NO shade in my apartment complex. I feel bad that my baby can't be a garage queen. :(
The apartment complex has a sprinkler system that leaves water marks on my paint so hard that not even Meg's quick detailer will remove them, I have to wash the car with good car shampoo. The sun just shines in and I feel like it's BAKING my paint, I guess its good that I keep sealants on the paint at all times.

One good thing is that I park in an end space next to the same guy all the time, and he has a brand new 2005 F-150 so I know he's not going to ding my doors.

I just wanted to see how many other apartment dwellers have fallen into obsession with car care just due to bad conditions.

Yes. I hate living in my complex. I got water stains that are permanent now. Even when I got it covered, a 20 mph wind just blows dust in there and leaves.

I can't even do any work on any of my cars. Not even an oil change. I have to go to my parents' just to work on it.

Currently I am looking for a cheap house to rent. But in So. Calif. a house in the poorest slum is over a thousand dollars to rent. Not worth it.

We lived in an apt. for 3 months while our house was being built and I absolutely hated not being able to clean or work on the car whenever I wanted to.

I had never lived in an apt. before that and I never will again.

yep I do... thats why I jizzed myself when I first started using zaino... most those problems went away...


Even better then you I have NO electrical outlets outside, or water faucets, I can go to a spot and pay $0.50 to use a hose for like 5 min.

I'm not allowed to do work on my car I generally do it at night time or around a corner where its not obvious...

LUCKILY, I have free oil changes from the dealership on my current car, that used to be a pain. Currently I am holding off on doing brakes(all rotors, pads and fluid swap), paint calipers, flush coolant, and160* stat until I move into my new place.

ALL the things including the t-tops were done in an apartment complex driveway or at friends house.


As for keeping clean... I generally take it home to my parents spend alot of time zainoing... then bring it back up to Orlando... Waterspots don't stick too much I wash it roughly every other week. Hose it down once a week in pollen season.


It sucks... Whats kinda funny is I have never used Zaino, other then the detail spray in the City of Orlando where I live [img]smile.gif[/img]


AND THE WORSE, is when you are working on your car and having to go up and down, up and down stairs to get stuff... I swap my wheels too often, then I have to get a jack, some stands, tools... will be downstairs and need a certain wrench but not have it and have to go back upstairs...

Used to be great when I lived on a 3rd floor, nothing like being under the car, realizeing you left your 13mm flat wrench upstairs, and have to get out from under the car, walk across the lot(because you ahve to park far away to not have people pulling in and out around you) and go up 3 flights of stairs for one wrench then come back down.


Like I said in my other zaino threads, you guys ain't seen zainoing yet until I get my new place, gonna layer that crap on thick [img]smile.gif[/img]


Gonna find out the closing date on our place today, just needs cabinets and its done. [img]graemlins/rock.gif[/img]

Another great thing about apartments... no storage... I had 8 wheels with tires, a headliner, 4 toolboxes, 3 bins full of car crap, that I accumulated over the years just piled up in the corner. Need one thing in the back took 10 min just to get it out and put everything back.

Thats why I have a 2 bedroom lol. Mine is ok. They have a bunch of trees here, I do have my own hose for the car wash area tho because they trash the hose thats down their.

I have 2 bedrooms too. but still sucks, woudl rather jsut keep it as my office. I sleep with my girlfirend in her room and keep my crap in my current room.

Living upstairs does suck. I usually have at least one thing I forgot and end up having to climb back up. No third floor woes though [img]redface.gif[/img]

I would hate it even worse if my complex had trees: they provide shade but stuff from the trees (including bird crap) is a lot more likely to get on the finish. I'd rather take my chances with the sun.

exactly what happens with my car, I get a little birdcrap, but lots of tree funk.
