  • Ran over a starter today :(

That's right, I ran over a starter today. One that was conveniently left in the middle of the left lane on I-95, right around a corner so that I couldn't see it. And now my car got towed to the mechanic so that the oil pan can be replaced!!! I just hope the motor is alright and I'm not too far in the hole on this.

I knew I should have stayed in bed this morning...

Is that all is wrong with it? How far did you drive afterwards??

Makes you feel better guy I know ran over some sort of electrical motor. put a gash in the transmission housing, hole in oil pan and a few dents under the car...

I did drive a little while since I wasn't sure what happened and there wasn't a shoulder. But I had oil pressure right up until I stopped. And after I stopped, there was a decent amount of oil that dripped on the ground while I waited for the tow truck. I really, really, really hope the engine is OK!

My wife keeps telling me it's not that big of a deal. I told her she's not the owner of the car and wouldn't understand ;)

my dad hit one of those bobcat oil filters one time. it fused itself into the rim. somehow that was the only thing that had to be replaced.

I made a claim on my insurance since the bill just reached $1,010.00! My deductable is less than half that, so it's not too bad.

Just waiting to hear back from the mechanic to make sure the motor is OK.

I can't help but think of the stuff I could have blown $500 on! A new catback comes to mind...
