  • The science of Beer

Okay so i want this to be for only those of you who know EXACTLY how much it takes to get that good buzz going with the exact stats and what not. Please don't go off of past evidence, i know how much it takes me but i am going to wait until i go out to respond to this post and i will put exactly how much it takes me, i am really thinking about turning this into a paper now. Here is what i want from you...
What kind of beer you were drinking, over the amount of time you drank that beer, age, weight, hieght, body build, ethnicity, and how often you drink and when you drink generally how much you drink. Thankyou very much for helping out science!

I'm 6'0", 210. 19 years old, half hispanic half middle eastern. Pretty athletic build. Used to drink a lot up until a month ago.

The good real buzz happens when I drink 4-5. There is a fake buzz after the first one, which is just imagined by your mind. After 7-8 beers I'm to the point where walking becomes a chore. When double digits come then I am usually too wasted to do much of anything. After about 12 or so drinks people usually have to fill in the blanks of the night for me.

Read what it says at the top...i only want people to post in this one that actually test this out for me...everyone has a guess of about how many it takes for them to get going in about how much time, but i really want to get some accurate research on this, and alot of people said they would be willing to go out and keep track. So this is ONLY for those who are going out and keeping track for me, not for those who are estimateing and what not. It is a expansion of my other post, i am cleaning up, post started as fun but i am going to turn my findings into a paper.

heh...I used to think that too, when I was a teen.

nothing imaginary about it, unless you're drinking O'Douls (even that has marginal alc. content)

getting down to the science of it, as soon as you take your first sip, the ethanol binds to and modulates GABA receptors, the inhibitory part of the brain responsible for reducing the firing of neurons, most noticeably the acetylcholine receptors (responsible for motor function, and memory), and glutamate (sympathetic nervous system); it then becomes a matter of a saturation curve..concentration of ethanol in the bloodstream, and it's mainly a matter of how fast your liver can oxidize it into acetaldehyde; it's a pretty consistent, [curved] linear phenomenon. There's really not a placebo effect from ethanol...if you feel it, you feel it, nothing imaginary about it.
