Doing it yourself... Welding

I'm tired of paying some old redneck $60+ an hour everytime I swap around my exhaust. The exhaust costs enough without extra labor bills!! So I'm thinking it's time to invest in a welding machine of my own. The problem is I'm not sure which type is best for my needs. I don't need anything super commercial, but something easy to work with that'll get the job done right ya know? I've arc welded and oxicetelyne welded before, but I don't really care for either. I was thinking maybe a good Mig welder perhaps. So you guys that do your own work help a brotha out and recommend something! :-P

I have done some welding in the past but i'm no pro by any means. There are a lot of places online that sell refurbished welding systems for like half the cost. I keep telling myself I'm going to buy one but I never do. Try to stay away from Arc. Its uses limit you to very thick metal and would burn right through your exhaust tubes. Look for a small Mig welder that uses a 115v plug so you can plug it into any wall plug. Thats all you would really need for car work. Good luck

try to get a portable wire welder. thats what my uncle (who works at a metal fabrication place) used when he came down to weld my exhaust on. i think they run about $500, it didnt use a 115v plug though
