  • t-tops?

as most of you know i am looking for a z28, i found one that a 6 speed, power locks and windows, it has everything that i am looking for except t-tops, i do like t-tops, if i get this will i regret forever the fact that i didnt get t-tops, or should i go ahead and get it and it wont make that much of a difference? i just have a feeling i might regret not getting t-tops, what do you think?

yeah, but i really dont want to take a saw to my roof and have it leak, i see that bondo was kristen's best friend, and when they come stock arent they much more structurally sound because they are actually one piece with the car, wouldnt you almost have to get a roll cage to counteract the extra body flex

the only diff. between a ttops car and a coupe is the added roof w/out the ttops wtc, the ttops bar is in every vehicle which would make no diff. if u made it ttops yourself, someone correct me if im wrong!

well, from what i understand, on a hard top, there is metal going along the top on each side which you would have to cut but the strength side of things, its all in the center bar which you wouldnt touch.

just buy it... and later on if u truely regret not having t tops then attempt the conversion.

The only thing different between a t-top car and the hard top is some crappy metal. Every f-body (besides verts obviously) has the T bar. T-top cars are less structually sound though

new headliner too right, that would be the difficult part.

Not really, installing it by yourself is pretty hard. But having someone help hold the front up and line them up to the holes that the sun visers go makes it so much easier.

Get T tops - you WILL regret not having t tops. It is one of the best features of F bodies.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

the reason you dont see the 6 speeds with t-tops is because gm didnrt make any . They say it was because they worryed about stress cracking of the body and some kind of warranty issue .hope this helps.
i did the conversion but i wouldnt do it on my own 6 speed .

^^^So your trying to say there are no T-56 cars with T-tops? In all honestly, after '93 its harder to find a V8 f-body without t-tops than it is to find a hardtop, especially in the LS1 era.

they made them, trust me, the car i was looking at before it got sold had t-tops, and was a z28. but i wouldnt worry about the stress because i would see a roll cage in its future. i just really dont have the balls that kristen does to take a saw to my car that i would have put so much money into already.
