I decided to split up my lan into two subnets (using mask 255.255.255.128). It all seems well and good except that:

I've been told that this is normal operation for a subnet and that I only have to forward the proper ports in the router (linksys) to make the server public. Does all this sound right to you?

- Hosts in the subnet cannot ping computers outside the subnet.</font>
- Hosts in the subnet can ping/access routers outside the subnet.</font>
- Hosts outside the subnet cannot ping/access hosts inside the subnet.</font>
