            Question:

Why is this board so strict about lounge threads?

First off, it's a Pro Board, right? So logically, the more traffic you get in here, the greater the chance of visitors noticing advertisements.

Second, if you have members loyal to you that want to shoot the **** about something you think isn't "worthy", what harm does it do to let them post it up? Even on my small private board, members have personal forums to host stuff if they wish to do so. It's called appreciating and rewarding your loyal member base.

Surely you have the server space available for chat threads and the like. They aren't going to chase anyone away. Those who don't get into that stuff will simply ignore those threads, but they will still browse the board and possibly check out your sponsors.

Heck, members can't even post images here other than a link. Welcome to 1995.

Daxdie, to answer your questions (and for the benefit of the membership):

You should have emailed one of the moderators with a question like that.

The board is not here to put money in the administrators' pockets. They take money out of their pockets to keep this board running and, believe it or not, they do it because the enjoy it.

As lounge moderators, it is our responsibility to maintain a clean, enjoyable environment in the lounge. That certainly does not mean catering to every snot-nosed high-school moron that wants to cause trouble or post "mindless drivel." Other boards may have fewer rules and restrictions but we are a cut above.

That is why we do not promote flame wars with other sites or allow our members to get out of hand. The rules exist, they will be followed, and the moderators will enforce them.

It is clear to me that this thread is not going to stay on topic. If you have any more questions, please feel free to email me and I will be happy to discuss any issues you may have.

Why? Because www.firebirdv6.com is a car site, to help owners of V6 F-bodys. The message board was an after thought. The fact that there is a Lounge at all is a concession to the members of this Board, as are some other forums.

Personally, I'd like to "pull the plug" since I have to spend most of my board time reviewing the junk in this "childs sandbox".
