On duty, we carry the Glock 17, 9mm, 17 round capacity. Off duty, I carry nothing smaller than a .40 cal. I have 5 handguns, 2 12ga. shotguns and 3 rifles.
I figure (god forbid) if I have to use my off duty gun sometime, it may as well count. I normally like to carry my .45cal Taurus Millenium.

what other guns you have hockeyman?

is your service peice your only tupperware? how do you like it compaired to some of your other sidearms?

is that taurus millenium as compact as it looks in from the picture? I'd like a full size weapon, not a little girly compact ;)

saw a badass d.eagle in a pawn shop a while back, black/silver two-tone Mk XIX .50 AE in very good condition for $999.

would've put it on layaway, but the ol' lady said "not until we have our own house". *sighs*

by then , I'd have one of those, and a Ma Deuce (Browning M-2), or a barrett light-50...just a small ordinance.

Didn't feel like taking a picture, resizing it, optimizing it and hosting it, so here's the same thing that I have for CCW:

And here's a good page detailing the USP Compact:

My carry weapon is a Bulgarian Makarov.
Pic 1 Pic 2
Cost me $150, and is one of my most reliable guns, right behind my Hi-Point carbine.

I carry it in a small, nylon IWB holster, and sometimes I forget its even there. It's accurate, and my carry ammo, 9x18mm Hornady XTP JHPs, perform very well. I really recommend a Makarov if you're looking for an affordable, light, concealable carry gun. 9x18mm ammo is slightly bigger than .380, which is 9x17, but it still packs quite a punch. Don't let people tell you that you need something like .45 to stop an attacker. Ask them to let you shoot them with a .22 and see how brave they are.

Do some research on Maks and you'll see how much people love them. They're durable and very simple. Taking them apart to clean them is very easy, and they only have twenty something parts. They have a fixed barrel so they can be very accurate.

Do not confuse them with similar looking guns like the Polish P-64 and FEGs. Those are actually Walther designs that look similar to the Mak, have almost 50 parts, and generally do not shoot as well as real Maks.

Speaking of Walthers, my friend, who also owns a Mak, did a lot of research on the P99, and came to the conclusion that for the money the Glock was a better buy, at least, in the tupperware department.

My other favorite pistol that I own is my XD-9. I've held all three sizes of Glock's 9mm, and prefer the look and feel of the XD a lot more.

I have a Colt 1911. Its a commander version(little shorter barrel 4.25) It shoots very well, but was so expensive i rarely get it out and shoot it. Field stripes in seconds without any tools(easily cleaned).
I've shot a few Ruger handguns. They are very accurate and not too out of reach on price.

I don't think he wants to pay $500+ for a plastic gun.

It's not all plastic and will hold up better then anything you have...Maybe that is why sooo many law enforcement agencies carry them.

I have a Ruger p944 .40 cal S&W, with nearly 10k round through it, it has worked very well. Have had to replace the springs once due to california lock. Very reliable for 320$ plus tax and fee's. For ccw, I wouldn't buy anything physically larger than that. 9mm is a little small and low power, go with a .40 or .45, more stopping power, with less rounds.

Too bad you don't want a revolver. I have a 357 that I got from my dad, and you could do some serious damage with that baby. He was going to take it out west and to Alaska when he went fly fishing as protection from grizzly bears. Just remember, hand guns are made to kill. Just because your 21 doesn't necessarily mean you're responsible to own a gun (but I'm sure you are). Make sure you keep a lock on it and always treat it like it's loaded.
