Have you every even shot one? My $400 XD-9 feels and shoots better than any $500+ Glock I've shot. This is not a put down on Glocks. They've definetly earned their reputation, but I personally think they cost too much for a piece of ugly plastic.
I've recently gotten bit by the gun bug again, and I'm on the look out for a Sig P239 to replace my Makarov that I currently carry.
Now that I think about it more, all this Glock crap is pissing me off. I went to my nearest Sig dealer hoping to look at different models. All they ended up having was one freaking P220. I told the guy I was interested in a Sig, but he spent the whole time trying to sell me on every model of Glock they had in the place. The P220 itself looked at felt much better than all of the glocks he handed to me. All of their small frame pistols are way too small for my hands, as I'm 6'3, 250lbs. He knows I'm looking for a small carry weapon and he hands me the freaking 5 lbs large frame .45 glock.
The funniest part was the whole time he kept saying Glocks would never, ever rust, and when he takes one apart one, the under-side of the slide is rusted
You just got a bad salesman. Either that or he's a hardcore Glock fanboy who doesn't know when to put the customer's needs ahead of his own idea of the "perfect handgun."
Sigs are outstanding handguns, I wouldn't mind owning one of their GSR .45's!

Magnum .44 and Berretta. It's at my parents' house. Haven't taken it out in years.
One thing about the Magnum, there is no way you can fire that thing with only one hand, just like in the movies. Even with both hands that thing is hard to hold when fired.
Desert Eagles are not good guns. they are unreliable and have a tendency to jam.
so your saying since police agency's have something makes them good??? think of the crown vic...
most agencies have them because they are very easy to shoot, no safties and high magazine count, most cops can shoot worth **** so they give them 17 chances.
also, how many Bianchi championships(Superbowl of handgun shooting) have been won by glocks???? not a one!!! it is almost always a 1911.
personally, i hate glocks with a passion. but you might not. thats fine. as for the person looking for a handgun, go look around at Sigs, Colt's, Berreta's and Smith and Wesson's. Stay away from Glocks and Taurus's(they produce bad copies of good guns)
The gun club I belong to is used by many police agencies from the surrounding counties. There are countless stories from the Range Officers about how bad the majority of the cops are at the range. They use to let the ROs shoot with them, but they won't anymore because they kept scoring consistently higher than any of the cops.

But he says he's shot them. I have as well. Accurate and reliable, but I prefer manual safeties (please don't try to tell me that my finger shouldn't be on the trigger, blah blah because I carry my Beretta M9 every day at work with a round in the chamber, decocked and with safety off. I'm well trained in "finger-off-the-trigger-kung-fu" ) for when I'm carrying personally. That's why I dropped the $$$ on my USP Compact. Just my $.02
