i believe i was in first hour in 8th grade but i didn't hear about it until 2nd hour. I hadn't seen any pictures of it until i walked home and turned on the TV and to my horror i saw the footage of what happened and i was like Jesus Christ who dares **** with the USA
i also remember sitting in seventh hour that day listening to the radio. They had people describing how horrible it was and they would talk about how the President was being flown around all day.

Sitting in economics class during my 2nd year of college. I think class started at 9:15 and nobody had heard anything about it except a buddy of mine (whos always been a jokester). He told us something about planes crashing into the trade centers.. naturally we didn't believe him. Teacher didnt know anything about it and went on teaching class as normal. As soon as that class was dismissed we stepped out in the hallway and its all people were talking about. Went to my next class and watched the cnn for 20 minutes before somebody came in and said go home, class is cancelled for the rest of the day. Not a fun reason to have class cancelled :(

Senior year...at home laying on the couch...leg broken and couldn't see out of my right eye(cause of head bandages where my forehead was put back together). I thought I was having a bad couple of weeks but when I saw that crap going on it made me just sick.
Still messes with me when I watch it and think of how many people died.

I woke up at around 8:00am to the radio and this sports station I always listen to was talking about planes and planes and I was like huh? It didnt hit me untill we all went into the living room and saw cnn on the bigscreen and I saw smoke on the first tower
I was at home sleeping after a 16 hour shift when I was still working at Deluxe Check Printers. I had went to bed as soon as I got home, and fell asleep immediately, which was around 7:30 am. I didn't even know anything about this until my brother came in the bedroom around noon and told me the WTC was hit by two planes. Of course, when he said this, I almost proceeded to punch the hell out of him for waking me up 2 hours early. I thought he was full of ****, and I needed to be at work again at 3:30 pm that afternoon for a 15 hour day, and needed as much sleep as possible. But when he flipped on the TV and showed me that almost EVERY channel on my dish had something on about it, I was stunned.
I take a shower and leave around 2:00 pm that day to head to work, figure I can get there early and watch some of this stuff on TV. I flip on the radio in the Camaro, and there was one announcer that was really just solemn about it. If anyone knows the radio station Q95 here in Indy (the flagship station for the "Bob and Tom Show"), they would know who Jimmy "Mad Dog" Mattis is. Usually a funny DJ on the air, that day he was as quiet and as serious as I have ever heard on the air. And they were not playing ANY music at all. Matter of fact, NO radio station in Indianapolis was playing any music at all, all news. While driving around listening to the news on the radio, I notice that EVERY gas staion is PACKED, with lines stretching for a coupla miles for some stations, and every one of them was gouging the hell out of the price. Seen one gas station selling 87 octane for nearly $5.00 a gallon. Surprisingly, people were paying $100 for a tank of gas. I get to work, and I run into the operations manager at the building I worked at, and he was telling me that the FAA had shut down every flight and every airport in the country, and that only 3 planes were in the air, Air Force 1 and the two escorts. I look outside to see, and there are no planes in the air at all, and there are three airports on the west side of Indianapolis, two municiple and Indianapolis Internation Airport.
I learn later that day that there was several employees that I worked with that had relatives working in the WTC. One lady had a cousin that made a long distance call to her from the express elevator in the WTC tower 1. From what she told me, her cousin and everyone in the elevator was panicking trying to get in the express elevator, people fighting to get on that little thing. She had only been on the phone for 2 or 3 minutes, when she literally heard OVER THE PHONE a loud snap from the cables that supported the elevator, and it dropped from the 65th floor to the bottom. Needless to say the lady I worked with was pretty distraught about the whole thing for weeks. I asked her why her cousin would call you, she told me that she was the only family she had in the states (both are from Brazil) and in case anything happened, that she would get a hold of the rest of the family and tell them.
There was one thing I did in the few days following the fall of the WTC. I was printing business checks and counter checks one night. I come across a job that really freaked me out. I almost didn't even send these checks down the line, it had gotten me to the point that my hands were shaking. I realized I was printing 10000 counter checks for this address...
Chase Manhattan Bank
1 World Trade Center
New York, NY 100XX
I honestly didn't even know what to do with them. I had eventually gave them to my boss, who had to find a new place to ship them. Never got sent out either. I also had to help print the over 800,000 checks for the American Red Cross, the checks that were given out to the families of the victims of the WTC fall. Needless to say that week following the attack was not a fun one at work or anywhere for that matter.

I was asleep when the first plane hit, my father was getting ready for work with the tv on and saw the first hit on the news, came screaming into my room waking me up, he turned on the tv just in time for my half awake *** to watch the second plane hit live.
I honestly thought I was watching a movie. The next few hours I spend in a daze. Mom drove me to college, she was worried about me taking public transit (light rail + city bus.)
About fifteen minutes into my first class (calculus, ugh) some joker called a bomb threat to the school, so they evacuated. Mom came and picked me up, she was in tears the whole way home, kept saying how horrible this all was and that she was so worried about me and my father, who worked at Sun Microsystems at the time (though, really, what terroist would bomb Newark when San Francisco is only a little ways north?)
Spent the rest of the day watching the footage, watched the towers fall live on tv, spent a lot of time realizing that I wasn't really safe. I mean I knew I wasn't before.. but that just kinda.. bam, y'know?
Anyways.. I don't really think much of about it now, I've basically gotten over it all.. Now I just want all this crap that stemmed from it done and over with. I don't mind the inconvience of the airports, I don't mind the war on Terror (though that's a really pretencious phrase isn't it?) I AM however sick and tired of the media surrouding it and their looking at every single accidnet as OMG is this TERRORISM? Like the Space Shuttle accident, first thing they were looking at was what if some crazy jihader had gotten a portable SAM and blasted it. HELLO? From 30 miles up? Going over 12,000 mph? I don't think so.
It's the media that's made this country a fiasco, and a disgrace to live in. Not our president, not our citizens (for the most part) but the media is a bunch of idiots.
Anyway yeah I was in bed when it happened.

I was in my Sophmore year at UH and my girlfriend at the time was going to NYU and was only 20 blocks away from it. I woke up kinda late for class and I turned my computer on only to see frantic messages from her not knowing what to do. I finally talked to her a bit and saw the second plane hit before heading off to class.
I was driving into Downtown Houston and I remember the major inbound road I was on was EMPTY and the outbound side had a huge traffic jam. It was kinda weird being the only one headed into town.
I remember that semester I was taking a class in Politics and we were talking about the events that happened that morning and I remember one Arab guy standing up and yelling "ALL YOU AMERICAN MOTHERF*CKERS HAD THIS COMING FOR YOU... YOU GOT WHAT YOU DESEREVED, STOP B*TCHING ABOUT IT." Needless to say there were 5 offensive and defensive linemen from the Football team waiting after class for him. He never came back to class.
The first plane hit when i was in Jazz band practice, which is before school. The second one hit wile i was in study hall. We had the tv on at that time and they were talking about the first plane crash. When the second one hit i just thought someone had taped it and they were replaying it, untill i noticed the other bulding was on fire. The rest of that day the whole school watched the news, or had a class discussion about it.

I came home from school and was laying in bed all day with the girlfriend at the time. It didn't sink in that it was real, just like everyone else. God bless their souls. And **** those terrorists.
I was outside for a firedrill during school and a big *** jumbo jet was flying over us and then all the sudden it does a massive 180 and turns around toward the airport. Everyone was like WTF? So the kids with radios started talking and word spread QUICK on the way back in something had happend we all wanted to know what. Our spanish teacher said she didnt care or know what happend and made us do spanish. God i hated her. By 5th hour everyone was invited to the libary to watch the news. That was a sad day.

I was sleeping (West Coast) and all of a sudden I hear the phone ring. I wake up, answer the phone and it's my mom telling me that an accident happened involving a plane. She didn't know how to explain it. I turned on the T.V and at that moment the second plane hit. I dropped the phone, couldn't rationalize what I was seeing and just started asking my self Who, What, Where and most importantly WHY??? Picked up the phone and told my mom I had to go to school, all we did was watch TV through out all my classes...

its kind of weird i guess but i wasnt scared that day or anytime soon after. some people think its cause of the bombing here in OKC and im just kind of used to it but i dont think its that. that didnt even bother me. i think when it comes to serious stuff like what happened. but, i'll admit, i tear up now when i hear the pledge or anything like that
The night of Sept. 11th, there was a riot in Paterson (a decent-sized city about 20 minutes away from me). there were a few Arabs who lived in one part of the town, and they had taken to the streets dancing for joy. In that same neighborhood, there was a large Italian community. there was a HUGE fight between the two groups. the Italians had the larger group, and proceeded to beat every last Arab to a pulp. the cops had to come and break it up.
two friends of mine were walking down the street in North Haledon (suburb close to Paterson, about 10 minutes away) when they spotted two Arabs chatting and laughing about it all. Both of my friends were teammates of mine in football, and both were black belts in karate. They stopped to talk to the guys, and words were exchanged. One of my friends (he's about 5'8", a little ball of fury) threw a punch and damn near took the guy's head off his shoulders. the other Arab ran.
elsewhere, a Hindu mistaken for a Muslim was killed by a mob of people. another Hindu, a convenience store owner, didn't show up at his store because he saw a large crowd outside his store armed with bats and shotguns.
I don't condone the actions of the people who attacked the Hindus, but the other two incidents were justified, i think.
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
