v8 v6 it doesn't matter to insurance companys they see the name camaro or firebird and jack up the rate plus they also go by your credit record plus they go by other things like sex age drive record ect. They don't care about the driver itself. $100 I could smoke any one in driving skills at my insurance company and they tell me I have pay out the *** to have full coverage on my camaro. Plus it doesn't help that I have a pretty decent system put in it. I think its just bull**** how insurance compnays do business.

Viper, it probably doesnt help that you dont have a policy in your name/ insuread at all in the US at the moment. (correct me if im wrong). Ins. companies look down on a lapse of coverage for any reason what-so-ever. Get your name on a policy now, any kind of policy, just so that you dont have to tell them that you havent had insurance in the past 6 months.

Age/Status: 25, Married (wife will be 21 in less than a month)
              Location: Montana
              Record: Clean Record
              Cars: See Sig
              Company: Safeco
              Rate (after wife's 21): $1150/6 months for all 3.

I'm the Primary Driver on the Dodge (full coverage, $1k deduct) for about ~$400/6mo

Dawn's the Primary on the '81, Liab. only. ~$350/6 mo

The Z28 (full coverage) has no primary driver, ~$400/6mo

Both of us can drive all 3 vehicles when we want.

Sidenote: We own a home, but it's insured through a differnet company because of it's age.

are you sure they are accepting that? 4g's sounds rediculous for the cars age/ your age. The only thing I could think of to make it that high was a lapse, since you have a clean record.

My wife and I have a policy together, but when I bought my car two years ago, was 22 at the time, my portion of the bill comes to $80 a month.... w/ 1 ticket.

Next time you talk to an agent to get a quote, ask them why it is so high and ask them how you can get it lowered. Find out what criteria they are basing it on. If they want your business, they will work with you a little bit.

Call around. Grab the yellow-pages and call the local, small-business multi-agents (those who carry numerous agencies) They're often times the best route.

My agent carries like 10 different insurance companies, and she did the shopping for me, and found me the best rate.

Those were my stats last yr when I had the bird on the road. USAA would only give me liability on the car due to the age of it  , but then if I get specialty plates for it, it can change. MAybe Hemmings can hook you up.
