I can't tell you how many drunken arguments I got in with my Ford buddy about how bad *** the LS1 was (when I was a chevy nutswinger). Now I've become my ford buddy

        • wow..... look what I started... not quite what I intended, but oh well.

KBeezy - those kits that you posted up (aside from the used ones which would need to be modified to fit the cobra intake I believe) they are stipper models without an intercooler (in case of the ProCharger) or aftercooler (Vortec). Any real thoughts on that strapped to a 4v, since the consensus with the 3.8L's is that anything not intercooled is essentially a half-assed design.

Ive looked at the JoeBlow auctions. they offer a Vortec for the Cobra in the $2500 range, but the aftercooler is an additional $1800.

And from what Ive been reading, modulars are limited to about 450RWHP by the stock bottom end.

          • haha --- naah, I've seen plenty of modulars pushing over 450hp.....

Reliable? Probably not. But its not reliable in an LS1 either ;)

And an aftercooler/intercooler isn't totaly necessary depending upon how much boost you want to run.
            Mustangs.. Come to the darkside...

The dark side is the path to the shadow of greed. =D

              • whatever guys... Ls1 can be made pretty quick for pretty cheap.

But they haven't made one since 2002, so they are starting to get miles on them.

The 99+ 2valve Gt is not has fast thats a given. BUT it is a quick car and a blast to drive, especially in comparison to a v6 f-body. Numbers or no numbers, a mustang GT is more fun to drive, and I have a quicker v6 f-body.

And what makes the 2valve appealing is it is getting dirt cheap, other day saw an '01 GT 5-speed with 52k miles for $8k IMO thats a deal. Then you see crap like ;01 ls1 6-speed with 52k forlike $14k.

I know somewhere on the other sie of the country their is a deal on a 100k ls1 auto. But not what I am looking for.

And also I think its just plum retarded to get a GT without a 5-speed, their autos are rediculous.

                • why is it every single time someone buys a mustang, this turns into a LS1 is better than a mustang thread when ever most of us dont even own an LS1? I would even go as far as to say that 75% of the kids on this board have never even driven an LS1.

Well then go out and test drive a GT then test drive a LS1 F-body and see what you think..

Find me a normal titled 2000+ ls1 anything with ~50k on it for $8k and with a manual transmission.

I know the ls1 outperforms the mustangs for sure, but it is not as good of a value. imo... And since 90% of us own v6s, seems money is an issure to us all.

Sure I woudl love a ls1, but seems like the things I want in one, cost like alot more, then I feel the car is worth.

Ls1 Gto I feel is a decent buy for the price. Same with the LS1 vettes... but not sure I want a high mileage C5 as a daily driver those things will get expensive to maintain.

                              I have. LS1, LS2, LT1, 5.0, 99+ 4.6 and 05 um, whatever the engine size is in the new GT's, lol.

Not trying to stir up some more ****, but someone hit the nail directly on the head when they said driving a mustang is like driving an escort with balls. Unfortunatley thats why it sold so well. Because it was more practical like a sedan then sporty, so it drew a bigger crowd.
