  • What is up with this camaro loving dog??

3 weeks ago, my mom's friend's son woke up one morning and found a dog laying in his back yard. He lives in the mountains or rural west virginia. He posted "Dog found" posters all over the place, but no one responded.

On monday he brought it to his mom's house, who lives down the street from me. She was gonna take it to the pound today. I went to take the dog for one last walk today before it went to the pound (to it's death).

I walked the dog to my house and tied it up on a tree in my yard. I opened the garage door and rolled my camaro out into the driveway to work on it for a while. THe dog ran toward the car, broke the CHAIN leash that was holding it, and leapt into the passenger seat of my camaro. It refused to budge.

Now, twelve hours later, the dog is strangely attached to me. It barks, cries, throws a fit, etc... if I get out of it's sight. It stays right by my left ankle wherever I go.

It is currently sleeping by my feet as I type this sitting in my room. The neighbor lady told me to keep it.

THis dog is acting like I raised it from day one, when I have only known it for a few hours.

It is a 60lb black lab. Judging by it's huge feet and endless energy supply, I am guessing that it is about 1 year old.

keep him...labs are kick *** dogs. They are real easy to train and real people friendly. My husky loved my camaro, when I would work on it, I would have to put a towel over the 1/4 panel because he would jump up to watch. Now he owns the back seat in my truck.

I'd say keep him, it would kind of suck if you had him for a few weeks and got attached then the owner found one of those flyers.

I've got a 1yr old boxer, he loves riding in the firebird, stickes his head out the window, at about 40mph you can hear his big lips flapping in the wind.

My unlce has had several labs, they are super easy to train, fun to play frisby with too. My boxer loves chasing a frisby or really anything I throw, but he brings it back and thinks he is supposed to play tough-of-war.

keep it , it sounds like a great dog, now if it was barking constitly and biteing you...then i could understand you getting rid of it.good luck with whatever you decide to do.

i'd keep it. I love dogs and would be attached to it already. We have a few dogs but my favorite(The Doberman) sheds to much and is way to big to be in the car. We have a Miniature Pincher too that goes places with me.

Here I am the next night, and I still have the dog. It(she) has a scar on her belly indicating that she was probably neutered or something.

She seems to respond to the name "Daisy". Her toenails are pretty short, so she was well groomed at her previous owners house. She isn't just some stray mountain dog, someone put some time and effort into this dog.

I got home at 1AM this morning, and she didn't rush to meet me at the door. She must be happy sleeping in my parents room. She seems to like my step-dad too, but not as much as me. I hope the dog learns to like my parents. Since I am going into the military in a few months, I won't be able to keep her exclusivley.

How do I train this dog? It I say sit about 10 times, she will sit down. She knows lie down very well. All other basic commands are nonexistent in the dog's brain. What are some basic training methods?

use hand signals when to you tell them and use the same one every time...

also using a treat to reward the dog will help then learn and slow back them off the treats and once in while give them one for beging good doggy

our lab is smart and know so much stuff she's getting old now :(
