(Yes, I'm that bored.)
Given the following:
If an oil change (Mobil 1 & K&N filter)
costs $33.93, and given that a change occures every 3 months, the cost of 12 months of oil changes would total $135.72.
--------------------------------------------------
Pathogen's ProCharger install started May 27, 2003
Since then I've done 7 oil changes on the car. Spent $237.51 on oil & supplies. $101.79 more than the average car owner.
I replaced my timing cover last August ($175.00 + gasket) after it cracked. It's since been replaced a number of times (each time is a new gasket).
As of June, I've had a no-to-low oil pressure problem and one hell of a tap.
Replaced my oil pump this past July ($30.00) and failed to fix the problem.
After some recent work, it's been decided that I'm going to replace a pushrod($3.00) and pressure sending unit ($29.98), along with valve cover gaskets ($10.00). Bringing the total to $346.77 in non-average repairs.
I've also paid a shop $100.00 to modify the timing cover so it will fit with my oil-filter bracket. That's $446.77.
So far, I haven't counted the little stuff or any performance upgrades ... and I'm $53.23 from the price of a decent salvage-yard motor.
Some one shoot me.
