• Just found out about my future career....

Well, I know most of you probably dont care, but I just have to brag to someone! I am in Air Force ROTC and I just found out yesterday that I was selected for a pilot slot.

The selection process starts when you are a freshman and you compete all the way through your junior year, so I have been waiting for this for almost 3 freakin years. They only accept less than about 50% of those who apply and about 1000 people apply each year.

Whew. Just had to get that off my chest.

So what does that mean? When you graduate you can become an air force pilot?

Competing for three years. Must feel good to win after that long.

    Congrats!

Yup. I graduate/commission May 2007 then I will go to undergraduate pilot training about 6-8 months after that. I hope to fly F-16's

You have no idea how good it feels to FINALLY know what the future holds for you after a 3 year wait!

Well, they are only giving F22s to guys who have about 10 years of service and over 1000 flying hours. Dont get me wrong, I def wouldnt mind an F22! Just a little out of reach right now. But, if I fly 16's then when the F35 comes out which phases out the 16... I can got to the 35 later on which is supposed to be better than the 22. ;)

Maybe you'll fly over my house. I'm near Scotts air force base and I guess one of their routes is directly over my house. I see at least 3 jets a day, i've seen 7 in a line, 5 in a V, hard breaking turns, after burners, its sweet Congrats

Damn, just being in an F-16 would make me cream my pants. When you become a pilot, let me ride in a two seater fighter jet with you, eh?

I wanted to be a jet pilot, but sadly my eyes suck something awful.

                      Enlisted arent ya? ;)

Well the AF is doing its "force shaping" and they are kicking out several officers (mostly FY 03 grads) and reducing alot of personnel so if I wash-out of pilot training...I'll be lookin in the local classifieds for a job. Thats a huge weening tool right now. Lots of people are afraid to even try to be pilots knowing if they fail out, they bail out.

I am not at all worried about failing pilot training though. I'm just happy I got selected to even go for now!!

                        Congrats man!

I might see you at Lockland AFB, I might get transfered there in the next few months.

Good luck with being a pilot, you just chose the most intense and strictest profession in the US military almost lol.
