Sorry the systems at your place of business don't receive enough preventative maintenance (defrag/cleaning the dust out of the case and fans) and have a bunch of different people using them. I'm assuming you're in the USAF, right? I know we've got some OLD *** Dells here and while they're not speed demons, they still work. With all the systems in use by the USAF, you're bound to see failures at one time or another. Likewise system fans do go out, no matter who builds them. Suck it up, spend the $10 and get another.

No, I'm not taking your Dell opinion personally, but you have to admit you see them being used under some pretty severe conditions.
</font>[/QUOTE]Well, we do have scheduled PMI (preventive maintenance inspections) that we have to perform on a 30 to 90 day rotation. Dell's even admitted that on half of the systems we use, they used defective capacitors. And, Apple does have a large software backing. Everything is compatible between the teo chips using rosetta

i will have to vouch for dell being crap, i have delt with lots and i can say i really havent liked any of them, and they were all large pieces of crap, especially the ones where they use proprietary everything, wait, thats almost all of them.

I personally build my own pcs, I can't stand pre-fabs 1- they cost too much 2- I HATE thier mainboards! 3- support blows 4- warranties are a waste of my time if I have to MAIL it back and wait for it to be fixed. 5- well only good built one I have ever scene below the server genre, is a alien ware, but their top system I can build exactly for about $2000 less.

As far as mac's I don't think they sell independent parts, so I'll wait and buy mine straight through my friend who manages an apple store later.

Wow, that truly does suck. What about a recall? I'm enjoying my Dell right now, but I DO have a 3 year warranty to fall back on... Let's say I don't trust system manufacturers much. If I can build it myself, I do. :D

So far I haven't heard anything about recalls, but then again I don't follow those too closely. The three year warrentees are a little pricey, but there's a reason Apple is constantly rated the best with customer support. Also, if you're near an Apple store, just take it to the genious bar and usually they can tell you what's wrong and what needs to be done to fix it

You can buy parts for apple from different distributers.
