Well it comes to GM, money talks. Like we need more SUV's and trucks.

this sucks, the only car i would love to trade my camaro in for would only be another camaro. But now with that news, i guess i could settle for a next gen GTO...i think they still are pretty damn cool, despite its 'dull' styling. GM im really starting to dislike GM, when the hell will Bob dumbass Lutz die to rid us of his truckloving insanity. He doesnt realize that having another muscle car would probably help out stock, since it would give current f-body owners more confidence in the general.

From what I read, it's not killed...more like set aside. Everything on the RWD platform will be pushed 1 more year...(2007 Camaro = 2008 Camaro as an example).

I am gonna buy some GM stock in the next couple weeks. Since they are projecting a huge loss this year, it's not like the stock is gonna get much lower.

It is virtually impossible for a giant like them to go out of business, so I am gonna ride on my GM stock for a couple years and be rich!!!

Yeah, it's not like GM has alot of options right now. They have to do every thing they can to cut costs. Profit forcasts are down 80% for this year alone. The UAW is draining them with pensions and medical benefits. Health care alone is expected to cost GM 5.6 Billion dollars (thats billion with a "B"). The union janitors get paid around 22-23 dollars an hour. Cost has to be cut somewhere, and GMs best selling platforms (and the most successful platform worldwide) are GM trucks. The GMT900 (replaces the GMT800 chassis) has to be a success for GM, or they would be in a world of hurt. Niche cars like the zeta cars wont help them financially. They need somebody to come in and make smart business decisions now, not just performance minded people, and not just bean counters, but a combination cause the vehicles are gonna have to be dead on or things will get worse. And yeah, buying stock in GM prolly isn't a bad idea at this point, their shares fell 14% a few days ago, down to $28-$29(ish) a share. I doubt that GM will go bust, but they might end up filing chapter 11 in the next few years if things don't turn around. Only time will tell.

Why would it tank? Because they're selling more affordable gas efficent cars? Sorry to say this, but the car market is favoring the Ford Focus's over the v8 gas guzzling Camaro's.

did you just not hear that they're going to biuld more trucks & suv's for teh proffit margin???? that's what really killed the f-body. That and being too fast and threatening the "mighty" vette.

Yeah, trucks & suv's are realllll fuel efficient .

Tell you the truth I wasn't surprised, I never believed there was going to be a new f-body till the magazines got testers...

GM is stupid, the Saturn version of the Solstice looks cool, but the miata/s2000 market isn't a Money maker.

Actual guys the new Camaro is here...

The Camaro is the "Poor mans Corvette" or one might say its the Corvette's little brother. Anyone notice what comercials are out now insinuating something is the Corvette's little brother?

Chevy Cobolt, your new Camaro. Feel the raw power from something that has the name "Ecotec"

I'd pick up a GTO in a heartbeat, but they are not worth the $30-35k they want for them.

IF they were in the mid to low $20s, I might look forward to owning one.

Maybe '04 will plummet in price, with teh '05s and LS2s.

More trucks and SUVs? anyone notice what starts showing up on car lots everytime we have a little gas crisis like we do now? Slow *** gas guzzling SUVs and trucks.

I am not getting rid of my Camaro ever...it is just going to get garaged. But adventually i am going to need a car to take its place. I will NEVER drive a mustang, and i don't want to drive a import, so it looks like i am either going to need to get rich quick and buy a vette or i am going to be getting a truck.

Some info from a very reliable source in GM:

                          Some observations:
                          >Forget about "Zeta is dead"......has nothing to do with some future products. It was only a name..and way overblown.

                          >The rumor mills are usually wrong..especially right now......

                          >The new brands and redesigned brands will continue to come forth from GM...while our earnings are way below expectations, the money has been...and will continue to be...spent on new product. That's what's going to turn GM around

                          AND from Lutz's blog:

Yes, we have canceled our plans to build rear-wheel-drive vehicles off the Zeta architecture. But that does not mean we've canceled plans to build rear-drive vehicles altogether.

We did not cancel the Zeta plans to save money, or to divert funds elsewhere that would've been used for product development.

We are simply reallocating resources (human and financial) to pull some other programs ahead and get other vehicles to market sooner. The press speculates this means we're doing it to get our next-generation large SUVs and pickups out sooner. You could see how one might reasonably come to such a conclusion.

Rest assured, we remain committed to developing RWD, premium,
high-performance, affordable vehicles, perhaps even a few with a trace of nostalgia baked in.
