i've got major pop-ups on my computer. I never had pop-ups until two days ago. I was using the computer and by accident an ad came up on a guitar tab website and I was in the middle of typing something and it installed something on its own. Know what I mean? Sorry if I'm sounding confusing. I need to get rid of these damn pop-ups- they're literally coming up every few seconds. I've looked in my Windows Folder and have deleted a few .exe programs. I had the Surf SideKick Adware, and some other crap. I have the Adaware program and it's still not catching all the pop-up stuff. Can ANYONE help me out with this, its so annoying, my computer is barely unusable. No lie- it took me like 10 minutes to write up this post, it's not just one pop-up, its like 2 at a time. Thanks guys....

Google up some ad-aware and spybot S&D... together you should be pretty well set.

A good way to prevent that from happening is firefox with adblock and adblock filterset.G

It blocks out alot of ad's period.

do you have a yahoo toolbar? i have that with a pop up blocker and it works great. But it looks like you downloaded something so try scanning your computer for any spyware.

        I'm getting pop-ups from: www.0dp.com, www.888.com, ad.firstadsolution.com, http://airsoftchamp.com/, www.myfuncards.com. I'll post more later about what's popping up. Ugh, I hate this crap!

I don't have the Yahoo toolbar. I have a browser pop-up blocker, but even when I turn the computer on and just let it sit at my desktop i still get these damn pop-ups. But when i open my Internet Explorer the pop-ups get BAD! I have Adaware, I'll have to check out Spybot.

          ps- www.heavy.com is another one.

www.winfixer.com, goldenpalace.com are more. I remember deleting a program called WildTangent. I have to restart my computer. I'm installing Spybot.

I just ran Spybot. I'm still getting pop-ups from 0dp.com and firstadsolution, but they're not as bad as it was. Mannnn- I hope I don't have to format and reinstall this stupid thing. I'm not in the mood for that.

Believe it or not Everglades W68, this particular computer is pr0n free! We've even had it for over a year.

Since I've ran Spybot last nite the pop-ups have dramatically stopped! The only pop-up i get now is from www.0dp.com and when it comes up, it shows up in pairs, weird. Anyone know of any free Anti-virus programs for download?

As already said. Use firefox - no pop-ups period. IE sucks a$$.

Upgrade your adaware version to the latest. Replace your windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file with one that maps all ad sites into nothing.

no need to reinstall the entire machine.
