hey it's exactly because of people like you the bill was passed in the first place.

Do you understand the dynamic to owning a firearm in America? It is constitutional right, the ammendment in consitution that guarantees balance of power between government and citizens to INSURE that there is no power overtake and the country doesn't turn into totalitarism.

It is any person's birth given right to own a firearm to protect himself, his family and his freedom. Criminals can already get their hands on all kinds of firearms. Why regular citizen cannot own an effective tool of self-defense and preservation of freedom, then?

You're absolutely right, assault weapons are the right of everyone, so are car bombs, grenades and "nucular" weapons. Why exactly do you need an assualt gun? You need a weapon that shoots 50 rounds in under 5 seconds for your family's safety? Statistics prove you're more likely to shoot your family than an intruder. I haven't heard of too many criminals using assault weapons in the past year... I'm not saying guns shouldn't be legal, but I'm saying assault weapons are stupid.

You, my friend, are the reason why we had the ban. People that don't know **** about how to use it, buy it "because it's cool" and "it's for protection" when in the first place it was never made for proection. A hand gun, protection, a shot gun, protection, an ASSAULT weapon,... uhm... no.

Pretty retarded restrictions to begin with made by a bunch of pussies.

Kerry's milking the press for his campaign saying how bush refused to renew the ban, making the average viewer think the republicans are lettting full auto uzi's into public stores. Automatics will always be banned this is about semi (which have always been readily availiable)

Its not really a big deal. Great news for gun enthusiasts. Getting some high-capacity magazines soon

haha, sorry, that's really funny. hahahahahaha. Yes, if a force is strong enough to take over the US, lifting the assault weapons ban is going to make the difference, and that is what is going to keep them from taking us over... citizen's guns. Surrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre they'll have nukes, planes, tanks, carriers... but my pistol is needed damn it in case they come to my house!

Sure, they were needed in the old days, but now they're just outdated. I think guns are fine, if put in the hands, but the problem is, they aren't. People buy them for protection but end up hurting themself more.

I'm now going to go buy an assault rifle and murder everyone at my school. I wouldn't have done that before, though, because assault rifles were illegal. I sure wouldn't want to do anything against the law.

All I need is accurate and powerful tool to use in case the need arises to. How much clearer can I make this to you? Just because it's called assault, doesn't mean it can be used only in offensive way.

Yes, pistol and shotgun are nice, too. Each gun enthusiast has their weapon of choice.

Hahaha, um, skapimp, you're a fool.

The reason weapons are Constitutitionally legal is to protect American citizens against OUR OWN government, not against a foreign power. The United States was founded after a Revolutionary WAR... a WAR in which the PEOPLE fought against an oppressive government and WON. Who says that can't happen again?

Oh, of course. Today the government is just much more ethical and trustworthy than it was two hundred years ago. We should believe everything they tell us, and we should obey every command they give.

Give me a break. Ja, mein herrn! Hail Hitler!

But of course, it could never happen here. Right?

I'm looking forward to buying my M-16. Do I need it to protect my family against burglars? No. Do I need it for hunting? No. Do I need it in case the U.S. Federal Government decides to cross the line (as it often does) and a new revolutionary war breaks out--the people vs. the government? Yes. If troops loyal to the government--rather than the people--try to take my home they'll have a hellfire rain of bullets to deal with first.

                      Every armed citizen counts.

Want to oppress an entire nation? Disarm them.

Want to oppress an entire nation of armed citizens? Fat chance.

I'm sorry, but that sounds just as bad as, "OH GOD the world is going to end at midnight from the Y2K bug!"

Assault weapons are not automatic...they are simply a semiautomatic rifle that closely resembles what the military uses. Gun violence has not decreased in the last ten years since the beginning of the ban and people need to learn what the ban is all about. I can still go buy a preban gun...so if I really wanted it why wouldn't I just get one of those. The ban did not do anything but limit the look and accessories that an assault rifle can have.
