I predict both Penn State and Texas winning over Florida State and USC, and that will be the final nail in the coffin for anyone who believes that OSU isn't a good team

Nice to see that Ohio State had more than 11 players on the field, including the 6 in the black and white stripes. Notre Dame walked into that game getting hosed by ABC, the officiating crew, the NCAA, everyone. Worst officiating I had ever seen in a college game.
I was extremely pissed with the way the game was broadcast. ABC has always been biased towards Big 10 schools, and they showed that today in the Fiesta Bowl. It was blatantly clear that they underminded Charlie Weis and all of the Notre Dame organization/university, and I was plain tired of hearing it. It was almost like the broadcasters were saying that Notre Dame had no business on the same field with Ohio State.
And the officiating was horrible. Notre Dame getting penalties on ticky tack s***, while I had seen NUMEROUS holding and pass interference problems with Ohio State just go without a flag at all. I will give Ohio State this, their touchdowns were deserved, but there is no way that they should have been able to move the ball like they did today, nor be able to hold back Notre Dame's offense like they did. If flags were thrown when they should have been, that game would have been much closer, but at the very least much less biased towards Ohio State and the rest of the Big 10. Bulls*** game for a bulls*** conference.

Funny you should mention holding penalties. My friends were yelling their heads off at the refs not calling holding on ND.
I don't know how you believe the refs were for Ohio state, the officiating crew was from the SEC. ABC is definitely not biased towards Ohio State either. Brent Musburger absolutely hates Ohio State, did you see what he wore during the OSU/UM game? He couldn't be more into Michigan unless Lloyd Carr was giving him dome in the studio. Herbstreit isn't even into OSU that much when talking about him, and he was a starting QB at Ohio State.
Ohio State won because they're the better team. End of story.

btw - I was friends w/ Brady Quinn in highschool so i kinda was rooting for both teams.... aka, i couldnt loose ;)
Yeah, he went to Dublin Coffman didn't he? If he did track I'd probably know him, I went to Westerville North. Our football team sucked, so I never paid attention to it.
His sister is pretty hot, you shoulda tried to hook it up with her ;)

Ohio State won because they're the better team. End of story. </font>
If your friends were yelling at a TV for a holding penalty against ND, they apparently don't know what constitutes as a hold, thats for sure. And if you didn't hear all the passive slander coming from Musberger and Herbstreit, then you weren't watching the same game as I was. Whether or not they both like OSU or not didn't matter, they were supporting a Big 10 school (which Michigan is also a part of) on behalf of themselves and the ABC producers and staff. Its always like that with ABC, thats why I can't stand to watch college football on that channel. The broadcast, game, and Fiesta bowl in general was a joke, pretty much staged to help a CONFERENCE team/school, and to drag the independents thru a bunch of crap. The game was biased, both on the field and in the booth. But this crap is inevitable when it comes to the independent schools, even Notre Dame.
Like I said, I will give OSU credit, because for the most part I am not blaming the team. You get away with what you get away with, if the refs don't see it, then there is no call. OSU also had some outstanding plays, especially with their TD's. But how that game was officiated and broadcast is what pisses me off the most. If the damn game was called better, I would have not been so pissed.

I dont think you can complain about people being biased against ND when the only reason they are in a BCS bowl is because they have a lot of fans who go to games. They need to be part of a freaking conference. What makes them so special?
Saying the refs did a poor job calling the game is one thing, but actually thinking they are the reason Ohio won. I don't think so. Ohio was definetly the better team last night.
as far as im concerned there were plenty of plays where each team could have/should have been flagged for penalties. both teams probably could have gotten a few holding penalties but they didnt.
the fact here is that ohio state is clearly a more talented team the ND. the buckeyes defense has AT LEAST 5-6 players who will be playing on sundays. A.J. Hawk is everything they say he is and he further prove that last night why he will play on sundays. his 4th down sack on quinn early in the game changed the momentum or the game.
Notre Dame just got beat with experience. It was their first time to the fiesta. but OSU has been there 3 times including a national championship they won there. If you havent noticed, ohio state isnt some cream puff school, had troy smith grown into his own earlier this season we could have beaten both texas and penn state.

Are you listening to what I am saying???
The reason why ND isn't a part of a conference is because it still gives them almost outright authority on who they play. By joining a conference, they must play X amount of games against conference teams, and having no say in who they play. Do you think that ND would have been able to play USC this year, and be ranked as high if they were a part of the Big East or Big 10....NO!!! Would they have been part of a BCS bowl game....NO!!!! Reasons being as they would have to had played crap teams, and wouldn't have been able to play teams like USC (the USC loss was a good loss, good game btw).
If the refs did their job correctly, the game would have been closer, thats what I have been saying the whole time. They seemed to turn a blind eye to Ohio State on a few plays.

Beat with experience??? Are you kidding, most of your starters are sophs and juniors. A game is a game, whether or not its the season opener or the Fiesta Bowl. Just because it was the Fiesta Bowl doesn't mean jack ****. Rules don't change.
And as for Troy Smith growing into himself the reason why you lost those games, I could say the same about Walker or Quinn with losses to Michigan State and USC, but that is pointless as well. ND made mistakes with the clock in the Michigan State game, and USC was a battle to the end. But that Fiesta Bowl was a farce, a joke. ND was going to get railroaded from the beginning, and it was evident with the officiating crew.

Yes, I understand what not being in a conference does for ND (besides all the extra money). My problem is there are three teams without conferences and it isn't fair to the rest of the nation.
If ND can't win out a questionable conference like the big 10 or the big east then it shouldn't be in a BCS bowl. I would like to see teams play out of conference more often, but as long as everyone else is in a conference and has to win out to make it to the BCS then so should ND.
The only reason ND is in a BCS bowl is because the BCS knows they will sell out the stadium. Not because they had a close game against USC.
thats a terrible excuse to blame it on the refs. youre the first person ive heard say anything about the officiating(and i have a ton of ND fans for friends). the players play the game and in the end ohio states speed was the difference.
i dont see how the game was officiated badly anyways. the refs let both teams get away with a few calls. and the flags that were called were justified. notre dame had what? 3 unsportsmanlike conduct penalties? whose fault is that? their own.
as far as experience... the buckeyes have been in 3 bcs games. this was notre dames first. in my eyes(and many others) bcs games are bigger games than lets say the alamo bowl or outback bowl. there is alot more media attention for these games and not to mention the pay out is huge. so the buckeyes players having been in this situation 3 of the last 4 years know what to expect,as the notre dame players havent been in this kind of situation before. if you havent noticed, the ND/OSU game has been talked about almost,if not more than the National Championship game. that being said this game was not the typical run of the mill bcs game for these two schools.
i think charlie wies and his staff really underestimated the buckeyes talent at the wr postion. granted most of the year they have been a quiet group. but when it comes down to it, those guys can tear up a undermatched secondary. and it was pretty clear that Notre dames secondary just didnt match up well with ginn and holmes. and in the end it was evident on the score board that that held true.
