  • Hot Tub Question

I know a guy who will sell me an 8-person 1994 model year hot tub. I'm going to look at it this weekend & if it looks good, is $1500 a good price?

If I do decide to get it, can I just throw it in the back of my pick-up on its side for a 50 mi. trip home?

I would say its a bit high. Your probably looking 3-4g's or so new depending on options and brand and that ones 10 years old. From what Ive been reading, maintenance on them gets pretty bad once they start getting some age on them. I would say that it should have devalued more than that, though I havent shopped for a used one so I dont know exactly what the market on them is like. I was offered an 8-person one that was 3 years old for $2500, if that puts anything in perspective.

You 'could' put it in the back of your truck, but make sure it is strapped down insanely tight and doesnt bounce and rattle on the rails.. you might really mess up the motors/ seals being that they are getting old. It would probably be better to even rent a u-haul trailer so you dont have to lean it up over the rails of your truck.

Most hot tubs don't even make it 10 years...I wouldn't plan on it lasting long.

Ive had my hot tub for 10-12 years, and other than some seals and stuff, its still goin great. But they DO require maintnence.

          Id stay away from it.
