  • Ok, what car can I buy?

List any ideas you guys may have for cars I can get with payments as close to $300 as possible.
NO USED CARS though.. has to be new.

I was thinking a new Mustang GT, but I can't get the payments lower than $340 :( Maybe the dealer will have a good deal on one since the 2005s are about to come out..

What else is out there and worthy of replacing a firebird?

Effin GM had to cancel these cars, when I want a new one the a**holes don't even make them anymore!

In CA you dont have snow, so my suggestion of the WRX is shot.......

    I dunno, 350Z? SRT4? lol

honestly tho, an SRT4's payment would prolly be less than 300

Scion TC 160 HP stock... super charger in the works... car is pretty pimp too. Payments are hard to get below 300 these days... unless you have good money down... and low interest.

You could always do a lease, if you're into that type of thing. We went down to the dodge dealership the other day, and optioned out a magnum the way we wanted it. It ended up being about $29k. But the residual on it right now is like 46%, so our payments were only going to be around $300-$340. Look for something with a good residual that you could do a 48month lease on, and you could basicaly double the price of a car if you were to full out buy it.

Yeah that is what my mom was saying, about $17-20 per $1,000 financed..

GTO = $34k here in CA... (gaz guzzler tax) If you can get that below $300 a month please tell me how LOL

We can be safe and take off like $4k from the sticker, I can probably get that for the trade-in value... might even be able to find somebody else to buy it for more, but I have to find a car first :(

The Tc's are nice, but I don't know if I want to replace my car with something that is around the same speed... that is one of the reasons I am hating my car right now.

jsut in case you didn't know..

For the GT, they offer $4,000 cash back in incentives and since you are still a student you can get another $400 off...

So thats $4,400 off. Now with a basic GT with a 5-speed.

The invoice(not MSRP) is $23,355, with the incentives that knocks it down to...(And yes, with the new Stang coming out you can get them for invoice, stangs are selling like crap)

                  $18,955

not sure what you have to work with... BUt lets say between your car and a down payment you have $3,000

                  Thats $15,955 financed.

Now in a 60 month loan(5-years) and 5.5% interest rate, you will be paying $305.75 a month.

I woudln't go past 60 months, lets assume 10,000 miles a year driving that would put you at 50,000 miles when the car is paid off.

Only flaw in this... is what is the '04 Mustang gonna do in value when the '05 comes out? will it stay an ok price or drop waaaaay in value and you will be owning alot more then its worth for the majority of the loan?

Thats the only thing keeping me from picking one up.

And taxes. You're looking at close to $1400 in sales tax alone on a car for that price. Plus a couple hundred for CA registration.

I'm not sure what the sales tax is in his county, but it's probably close to what it is here.

Nope, WRX's can kill in the sand.... I know I have a link around here somewhere of a dude thrashing through the dunes in his WRX... kinda funny to see the looks on peoples faces.
