  • GM Tards part 2

    http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/ns/news/...&w=RTR&coview=

Wave goodbye to Pontiac and Buick

like i said, I'll never buy GM again

although, it does make sense from a buisness stand point. I jsut wish they would ger their **** together and actully be a competitive company rather than a stale turd

wow, that is shocking. I can't see them ditching Pontiac though. Buick I can see, you don't see many of them driving on the roads as it is.

I see buick going before pontiac, simply because of the new GTO.. too much money to quit now.

He quoted one car reviewer who said, referring to GM's troubles, that the quality of the Cobalt convinced him that "the Titanic may yet turn fast enough to miss the iceberg."
        That article is all speculation.
It doesn't say EITHER of them will be phased out, it says ONLY ONE MIGHT be.
I don't see why everyone gets so pissy about this... they're losing money and not selling cars. Who can blame them for cutting losses?
They're only retards if they KEEP producing crap that does not sell, which they're trying to fix... that is the opposite of "tards".

well, i mean, you gotta figure that even if one makes more than the other, but they both lose money, they will both be canned. like i said, it does make a lot of sense from a buisness stand point. I just deplore GM for getting itself into this situation, b/c they should know how to run their company and actully compete, rather than just sit around and go 'we have the vette' while everyone else eats their lunch

Ill still take a GM car over any other. Just because they are not selling, does not mean they are bad. The problem is styling, cost, and marketing. They need to give up those rebates and put that price on the car.

Guys, you can have your Mopar or your FMC, but I have GM. GM for life baby. I would hate to see them get rid of Pontiac, but it doesnt mean GM is crap. Gm for life.

How about not investing money in Saab or Fiat or Opel or Vauxhall or give up Subaru to Toyota instead of giving up Buick and Pontiac.....

Yeah Saab is a money pit too.
I read they've been in business like 20 years and only made a profit one year.

I hope they can Buick first, as the only compelling car they made (outside of the Muscle Car era and the GN) was the one I drive. I love this car but it's the last Buick I buy unless they get something else out there.

I thought Buick was supposed to be trying to target the Younger generations with their souped up younger old man cars? What ever happened to that? Cos i'm waiting for a Buick Truck...

Not saying that any of you are old men, but thats how i've always viewed Buick, b/c i've never seen anyone under like ....40 drive one...

                        Makes some sense...

-never any talks of a new firebird(even before they axed the Camaro)
-There are no Pontiac or buick trucks.
-GM only wants to sell trucks.

Well, I'm 25 and drive a Buick. I agree that it's rare to see a younger person driving anything Buick, and it's because, honestly, there's nothing really exciting in their lineup anymore in my opinion.

My GS is just a reskinned GTP with differing interior and suspension. It's got everything else. Best part is that it's a complete sleeper and evades the police by not being easily recognizable as a performance vehicle. Of course I don't condone blatant speeding, but it's there if the need arises.

I just wish there were more compelling performance vehicles that didn't cost $35K+ new.

Mark LaNeve, GM's vp of sales and marketing has come out already and said there are no plans to do this. It costs GM quite a bit to kill a division as they did with Oldsmobile so unless it got really desperate I doubt they'll kill any of the other brands.

Pontiac does have a "truck", the Aztek ;) .
It will be also getting a new truck, the Torent, based off the Equinox. And technically the Montana SV6 is a truck too.
