god, what a pain in the ***. getting the old pump off was easy as pie, the new pump on was pretty damn easy too 'cept i dropped a bolt and spent an hour digging through all the gunk under the steering rack. then the wiring was a pain in the prick, cuz the switch was bad and i kept misplacing the electrical tape, so i went back to the store and exchanged it, only to have THAT one go bad. finally got a decent switch, and i put on the new belt (905k6), and great! the belt was now rubbing on some little boltlike thing sticking out next to the crankshaft pulley. by now it was 5 a.m. and i pulled out my trusty sawzall and cut that ***** off. so now the belt doesnt rub, and the pump turns on, so i'm doin good, but i look at the belt and its wiggling in the space b/w the tensioner pulley and the crankshaft pulley. that and i smell rubber when i'm not moving. no squeeking tho. haha, i'm whining all ove the place here but i'm in such a good mood now that its over. i'm glad i did it. pics later.

geez, it sounds like it... hell, ya might try fer a newer one too, like 98+. maybe see if ya can get a y87 pack while ur at it too. that sux that u only get 4 grand for it. i never understood that... if you insure a brand new car, the premium is the same as if u insured that same car 5 years later, but with the new car they'll give you tons more. i think older cars should get discounts... yeah, i agree all that work is a pita, and i can only imagine what i'd do if i totaled mine. i'd prob get an m5. manuals are so much more fun to drive.
