I wonder who that putz is.

You're wrong though, lol. I was going to chime in and just say I think you guys are giving the R6 too much credit. Yea, its snappy, twist the throttle and it flies. But im telling you, it doesn't make any real power until you are up screaming in the RPM's. If you want to pull that wheel off the ground, you have to use a lil clutchwork. Takes effort to get yourself in trouble. Just saying that if a beginner can handle the 600R, they should be ok on an R6. If you can't handle the R6, maybe you shouldn't even be on a sportbike at all let alone the 600R. You guys disagree? Most people disagree, but I guess I have a tendency to assume riders have more common sense then they really do, lol.

The liter bikes though, totally diff story... We're talking 3rd gear roll on the throttle wheelies. Thats just asking for trouble if you have no experience, lol.

Speaking of Liter bikes, my two best friends, one bought an '05 1000RR last week, and the other is picking up his '05 R1 tomorrow. I need to upgrade, .

R6's can be wheelied totally stock without clutching clear into 2nd I could do it on my friends 03. I can do clutch wheelies on my bandit into 2nd which it only has like 78 hp with the pipe. Never underestimate a bike I've seen a 650 vstar do a wheelie not very high but it still wheelied. But anyway the best thing to do when your going out to buy your first bike go and buy one that has been laid down and possibly totalled by insurance make sure it just has fairing damage. You will get it pretty cheap and it doesn't hurt near as bad if you go down on it and scratch already scratched fairings then when you get more comfortable you can go and get them painted and get it fixed up nice.

For a pure sportbike, I think a GSXR750 would be perfect (I'm a bigger guy, 6'1" @ 220, absolute fata$$!) and I need the extra displacement! ;) :D

Blue, you know anyone that has something a newbie could get used to riding on, now that you're out here in CO? I should just take a basic rider's course from MSF... :D

Is it a Bandit 1200 or 600? Any more details? Ever wrecked? I know it was flogged... ;)

My father had a Bandit 1200, very nice bike in metallic red. Good looking for a standard. Damn, and the wife just said "sometime next year I can see getting a bike" LOL, that may change... :D

EDIT: Oh yeah, if the fairings are messed up, I think I'd rather not have you paint them and transfer the savings to me if I plan on buying it, makes it easier to convince the wife to say yes.

EDIT 2: Forgot the larger bike was a 1200... LOL.

EDIT 3: Just got off the phone with the Mrs and told her about you selling the bike, she didn't seem opposed to me buying one... well, she didn't outright say no... haha

EDIT of the edit of the edit: OK, the GSF600S in your sig answers a lot of my questions now that I know that's the Bandit, lol.

Ok it has a salvage title on it but it is verfied and fine now. Obviously was wrecked. I have put new front forks on it about a year ago. They need seals now because I put to much fluid in them. Not really a big deal but still. As far as fairings I have a set that needs paint the bike is stripped right now. Tires are totally gone on it I am getting a set of tires for it off my roomates bike and they are almost brand new like a couple hundred miles on them. The headlight case is cracked still works fine though. Has 1+ in back and 1- in the front I have stock sprockets also i just wanted a little more acceleration. Yoshimura carbon fiber R&D pipe. I am missing the front fender on it. Thats all I can think of right now so ask me other questions.

Suzuki SV650's are great starter bikes, they are v-twin rather then a 4-banger, so they make a good amount of torque, and they handle real well. Plus only one insurance company i have heard of says they are a sport bike, most consider them standards, so insurance would prob cost you around 50-70 a month esp. if you take a motorcycle safety course. And you can get a full fairing kit from suzuki for around 400$ already painted. I would definitly say Sv650 if you are getting a sport bike.

I got a suzuki katana 600 and besides it being somewhat ugly I think its a great bike to start out on. Mine has been laid down and so Im not really worried about the cosmetics at all. Also, with one accident on my record at age 19, insurance is only like 500 a year,in CA.
There is fast, too fast, and way too fast. Way too fast is almost fast enough.

I don't understand, I did a rate quote on the Bandit and it came out to $660 a year for a 25yo with no accidents, and a 19yo in CA with a spill pays less than that? Are you on your parents policy or what?

EDIT: Blue, what's your initial asking price?

A good friend of mine bought a busa last summer and let me tell you, I am now afraid of sport bikes. I was tempted to get one until I took a spin on that. That bike is just scary. Affordable, but oh man that bike tests your grip and ability to hold on. So NOT a first time bike, but I guess someone will have a fun time on it. I can't see the reason to go down the road at a buck 90, one rock, one dip and your done. I'd stick with a cruiser. Don't have a reason to go over 100 imo

I've got Geico because I'm in the military, but I was looking to start shopping around for another provider. If you can give me the hookup, it'd be appreciated.

A few more questions: What's the mileage? How are the brakes/chain/etc.? Any pics, or can I come over and see the bike sometime next week? All the controls working good? Anything else about the bike you can think of? Thanks.

WOW! I just called Geico for a quote on the bike, and let me tell you, their customer service has gone to **** over the last couple of years! I'm NOT doing business with them with snotty *****es answering the phone like that! They even pressed me to start the insurance immediately! Holy crap. What don't they understand about "get the quote on the vehicle you want BEFORE you buy it so you know what you're going to pay AFTER you commit to buying it"?

What ****stains. I need to talk to your agent Blue, and let him know I expect good customer service! I don't call to feel like I'm putting someone out or inconveniencing them. :(
