ok so i was thinking my *** off all day trying to figure out a way to keep cats off of my black already-scratched-to-hell firebird and KEEP them off.. i was like "what if i got some kind of electrostatic charge built up in the steel of the car, could it be released when a cats paw comes in contact with the body panel and SHOCK IT?! im not sure if the electricity can travel through the paint and primer, or even that far of a distance but i have seen some "scat pads" that are battery operated and you leave it on the hood or spoiler and cats jump on it and get shocked.... anyone know how to make a homemade one? and again, like you could use the body of the car as the alarm so if someone tries to break in they get shocked, that would rock....

I put a small dish of antifreeze out near my car when I had a problem with cats getting on my car... it stopped a few days later.

Ummmm...most of the car is fiberglass....only the hood and rear quarterpanels are metal. Scat pads just run a DC current through half of the metal strips and ground the other half. So when the cat touches both it gets a good zap of electricity. Oh...they used to have those kits that would electrify your car...but that was when cars had all metal panels...and they are illegal now I believe.

wouldn't a car cover just be easier? Oh, and whoever said it above is right - y'all are going cat hell... where all you will see are cats all over your car...

seriously though, mostly they don't scratch cars unless you scare the crap out of them and they scratch in their haste to get themselves off the car...

Dirty feet also scratch the paint.

A car cover would work...but it's the principle behind it

If you were good with a paintball gun you could pick them off. My brother did that at his apartment. Worked pretty well I might add.

actually car covers will just be a more appealing sleeping spot for the kitty to sleep on, therefor he will visit even MORE frequently and it will NOT get rid of the problem, i am not going to waste my time with a stupid cover when i can do much more masculine things like taser kitties. the car must be taught that the car is a NO-NO and the only way to do that since they are quite STUPID is to use their instincts.. a simple equation. Pain=Bad and Car=Pain, naturally Car=Bad and Bad=GIT THE **** OUT OF THERE!!!

                            my logic is undeniable.

oh and again with the car cover, why do cats claw at furniture and not tile? because furniture is more squishy and soft and it rips, so if hes CLAWING AT THE CAR COVER, i can garuntee you that the claws are LONGER than the car cover is DEEp and therefore he will be clawing right through the cover and ALL over my PAINT!!! kittie must fry.

i might attach this electric fence charger to my cars door handles since they are quite metallic and then to a seperate battery perhaps and have a relay connecting the chargers power to the lock and unlock solenoids of the car, so when i lock the car, it electrifies the door handles and when i unlock the field is deativated, now THAT would kick ***!!!
