I always thought it was "judge not lest ye be judge" or whatever...

here's my question: what is it actually going to hurt if gay people are allowed to enter into committed, legal relationships with one another?

"sanctity of marriage" can blow me. very few people treat it seriously anyway; not my parents, not my friends' parents, and only a few people in my church- hell, i am afraid to get married just because it seems like one of the worst ideas and mistakes a person can make in their life anymore.

People can't help it if they are gay, why give them any less rights as an American citizen than anyone else
Being born in this country entitles you to rights, if you are not attracted to females (or females not attracted to males) then you are forced to take fewer rights and have your constitution changed to take away rights.

im going to throw im my opinion on this. i believe homosexuals should be aloud to marry in a church and it shouldnt be a government issue. but, if they want to be legally reconized by the government or for tax break or insurance, anything other than a religeous union, its the governments buisness and i dont believe it should be aloud. ever since that guy in california started doing this, i have wondered why he hasnt been kicked out and prosecuted for abuse of power or something. if i was the president, i would have called on the congress or done something to have him removed. now, if or when the government decides it should be allowed then more power to them. i just think this defying the government should put this guy in jail. personally, i think there should be a national vote on wether this should be a state decision or country. then after that, have votes acordingly. if its a state thing, i think the marrage licenses should only be accepted in those states. its wrong when someone goes to another state to get married just to move back where its not alowed. i hope i stated my point well considering the delicute situation.

The FMA is nothing more than a ploy to polarize our country on the eve of an election. It diverts attention from the real issues and it will NEVER be ratified into our constitution - but the thought of it maybe being done has mobilized Bush's religious right wing base which he had previously not been so tight with, but now will show up in droves to vote for him. Its a political ploy - and looking at the responses on this board, has worked perfectly to mobilize those who would normally be opposed to such regulation and withholding of civil liberties in favor of Bush.

Being gay isnt illegal, they cant get married, marriage isnt only a church thing, its also a govn't thing. If the govn't stays out of it then there would be no tax breaks, which is what most of these homos are after anyway when they want to get married.
