• Pontiac and Buick may be gone soon

I said don't believe bad news or product cuts till you actually hear them officially. Well, here's the opening salvo (if it hasn't already been posted):

    Quote:
Lutz also said the company could "phase out" brands such as Pontiac and Buick if they fail to improve sales. "I hope we don't have to do that," he said. "What we've got to do is keep the brands we've got."

Get rid of Daewoo and Fiat then instead of Pontiac and Buick!!

    R.I.P "GTO" :(

GM only cares about : chebby cars, chebby trucks, gmc trucks, cadillac.

It cuts down on brand repeditiveness, still lets them get their proffit margins w/the highly fuel efficients trucks & suvs, and lets them claim to be on the cutting edge of luxury & performance w/caddy.

    deal w/it.

It would really surprise me if they were to cut out Buicks, since they have a contract for Tiger Woods to advertise Buicks until 2010. But you never know....

I agree with Bird.....Bob Lutz can suck my nutz!

I doubt Tiger Woods would be the only thing to keep buick alive.

Since I posted in the other one I'll just copy it here .

              http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=102052

Mark LaNeve, GM's vp of sales and marketing has come out already and said there are no plans to do this. It costs GM quite a bit to kill a division as they did with Oldsmobile so unless it got really desperate I doubt they'll kill any of the other brands.

Pontiac does have a "truck", the Aztek .
It will be also getting a new truck, the Torent, based off the Equinox. And technically the Montana SV6 is a truck too.
