ITs BS, I have lived a week, nearly 2 weeks without eating ANYTHING but McD's. I didn't even eat that much fast food before, maybe once every other week or so. TGhen I ate, McD's 1-2 times a day no other food, and no major exercise. Things I notice sausage patties make my poo turn green, and <cD's fries can vary from day to day in tasting good or not.
I felt more sleepy, but I wasn't violently sick like this guy was.
Reason why I did this? to save money.
I have this...

So I get free McD's...
a pic I took during one of the Monopoly/Best Buy bucks deal McD's had goint I hit 5 or 6 McD's in a row.

camaro_speedemon, i think you two are arguing toward the same end. i understand your point about changing your diet overnight, but don't you agree that eating fruits and vegetables is, in concept, healthier than eating MSG and grade C beef? in my mind if you get used to feeling "bad" (like i do after i eat fast food and i would say i eat it 2-3 times a week), then it won't feel "bad" anymore and you can't be qualified to speak on what "bad" health is. i'm sure a day without a headache is great to someone who's suffered tons of concussions, and a day without vomiting is great to somebody on chemotherapy.
truth is relative to experience.
i think you are arguing that the movie tends toward overreaction because there was a somewhat rapid change in diet, not that premise (fast food is not good for you) is false.2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun! Fast food is disgustingly bad for you in so many ways. You have to keep in mind that he ate absolutely nothing but McDonalds.
I think it's entirely possible -- even likely -- that his liver enzyme levels were way off, and that his cholesterol, blood pressure, and triglycerides doubled, just like the film showed. I would be more surprised if they didn't.
I believe that the problem, however, is that the reactions of the doctors were so hyped. The guy was in no danger of total liver failure. The doctors were sensationalizing and dramatizing what the numbers actually meant. The numbers didn't indicate a healthy individual by any means, but he wasn't on the verge of death either.
That said, what it boils down to is that almost everything McDonalds serves is constructed of pure sugar (or highly refined starch), cholesterol, saturated fat, sodium, and trans-fat. Over time, their food will increase your risk of type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. No nutritionist would deny that.
However, the human body is an amazing machine. You can eat almost anything in moderation and be reasonably healthy. If you like McDonalds food, there is no reason to deprive yourself of it. Just don't eat it every day, because eventually you might regret it.
I do. From the time when I was a young teenager until just a couple of years ago, my diet was heavy in fast food, and heavy in McDonalds food. I am now struggling with diabetes. There is no doubt in my mind that the food I ate was largely responsible.
No, I'm not blaming McDonalds for my health condition, if you're thinking about arguing with me. I was genetically predisposed to the condition to begin with, I choose to eat what I ate, and like a vast, vast majority of American's, I was wholly ignorant on the subject of nutrition.
The point is, the medium was heavy and long-term consumption of foods high in quick metabolizing sugars and trans-fat. McDonalds.
I guess the moral of my post is, everything in moderation folx. It's easy to deny that something is bad for you simply because you want to continue to eat it, but it's more reasonable to understand the risks and take everything in moderate doses.
My 2 cents.

this man had a vegan chef for a wife, so it was obvious he was eating very healthy before his binge. nutrition is everything. you can wat whetever you want whenever you want, as long as you give your body the necessary vitamins and minerals to do it. plus this guy was taking in over 5,000 calories a day with no excersize at all.

Wait, you guys that are late-teens, early-20s and eat a lot of McDonald's are saying that Super Size me is BS? Wait til you reach 30 and your metabolism slows down. All Super Size me is saying is that McDonald's is VERY VERY BAD for you. I don't think that is BS at all. Just because you don't feel bad now doesn't mean ****. Maybe if you ate healthier you would feel BETTER. That's OK guys, seriously, just go on eating McDonald's: everyone that says it's bad for you is wrong. HAHAHAHAHA.

Of course he ate nothing but McDonald's for the experiment: it wouldn't WORK if he ate other things. Keep in mind that he only ate that way for a month and he gained 30 lbs. At the beginning of the experiment he couldn't eat very much of the **** before he started to puke, then as time passed he could eat more, and he felt bad if he DIDN'T eat more. He's trying to distinguish between his previous healthy diet and the "McDonald's diet" that some people exist on. It's a world of difference. Really, I didn't see one part of this movie that was BS.

McD's is bad for you, we are not stupid.
But the results of this movie is crap. Like I said I ate nothing by McD's for a little over a week. I was saving money, had not food in my house, but had a card that gets me free McD's
Its like saying spraying a 50 shot of nitrous on your car and now your car will not last another 5,000 miles. Does spraying generally lower the life of a motor, yeah, but not that severely.-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251

No one is denying the severity of his diet. He made it pretty obvious. He ate nothing but McDonald's and the results showed. I don't think he is saying "never eat McDonald's again, ONE BIG MAC WILL KILL YOU!" That would be a better example for your "50 shot of nitrous" analogy.-Eric
2002 Navy Blue Camaro...Striped and Stalled. 35th Anniversary SS wheels
Best ET: 15.384 @ 88.32 on street tires
Project Whitney: Goal, 14.0 1/4 by summer 2008.

Your body is young. You can handle it. But, it will catch up to you eventually. You can deny the nutritional facts all you like, but not wanting something to be true doesn't make it false.

1. I have not seen the movie, but read about it.
2. I like McD's food (smoemwhat) along with Wendy's, Taco Bell and plenty of other fast food places.
3. I think the movie's point is valid.
4. I can tell you that when I was in HS and college (not that long ago), it was common to find plenty of waist size 30 & 32 (even some 28's) jeans and pants. Now, I have to look long and hard to find anything below 34 waist.
5. I am always amazed by people who won't do the slightest bit of exercise - like walking a stair case instead of an elevator.
6. Upsize, supersize, biggie size, whatever - it all is way too much.
7. People consume lots and lots of sugar in drinks and foods. Plus, HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) has become a building block of most prepared foods ove the last decade.
8. So, is the movie kind of ridiculous?
Yes.
9. Is the issue the movie portrays a problem? Absolutely.I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
