Not too familiar with the Ion redline specs but it doesn't seem too bad. The Cobalt seems very good except for stock boost being already at 12 or 14psi (something right around there). Makes me feeel like the motor doesn't have much potential if it needs 12 pounds of boost to make 205hp...
I am really impressed with the cobolt ss. It seems like a great car for 20k and I would take it over an srt4. It might not be as fast in the 1/4, but it outhandles it and I just dont trust chrysler.
I dont know why GM stop using turbos. I think the last production car/truck they had with a turbo was the Typhoon is 93. They have been doing well with the supercharger, but I would rather see the turbos come back so they can dominate like they did when they used them.
I'm not saying it's bad that it already has 12 psi, I'm saying it's bad because @ 12psi it only has 205hp at the crank as compared to the srt4 having 230hp. The car is great from what I hear. It'll be a nice war to watch between them, and the skittles :D\'99 SSM Camaro V6 M5
(mod list on cardomain site; too long to list here)
http://www.cardomain.com/id/v6cam99

I bet the cobalt does the same thing.
And from all the reviews, the cobalt is pretty nice inside, and the ride quality is awesome. The SRT-4 is good for straight line acceleration, thats it. The ride quality and handling gets owneeed by every other car in its class. I would take a cobalt over the SRT-4. I think the stock ecotec block safely handles 350-400hp too, if I remember right. I know they have another ecotec block that will handle 500, and another than handles like 750 or something.Sinister Six©
My \'95 Bird
I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.

Opel Speedster and Vauxhaul VX220...
1200 horsepower out of an Ecotec? Look at the GM FWD drag Cavalier ;) Its an Ecotec motor. Want to have a 600-700-800hp streetable Ecotec FWD car? Look no further than GM Performance Parts, they offer everything that is in that motor, from pistons to rods to an all aluminum race block and even turbo exhaust manifolds... Hell, they even have intake manifolds that are for use with an LS1 70mm throttlebody.
on top of that, I will add, the 2.4 Ecotec motor has a 175hp rating ;) The 2.2 has a 150hp/150tq rating.. And the 2.0 SC has 205hp/200tq...Mustangs.. Come to the darkside...

The dark side is the path to the shadow of greed. =D

i would like to see a funny car with a 2.4L ecotech lol, im sure it would be good.
im not saying ecotechs are bad, because the cobalt sure proves its a worthy engine, but come on.
the name sounds like its a hybrid car or something (thats what i thought the first time i heard the name)
i would take a cobalt SS or especially a redline. 200 stock HP is no sissy.
