I think the concept Chevy Nomad had the Turbocharged Ecotec engine.

The neon srt-4 and suburu wrx flat out beat both the ion redline and cobalt ss.
Turbo > Roots
Imagine what the GTP would be with a Turbo.
Even with an aftercooler the roots does not match up to turbocharged intercooled forced induction.
The roots on the L67 passes because its more displacement and makes decent power with the blower.
But I don't think the roots will be all that impressive on 4 banger.
S/C never were, remember the Toyota MR2?
They had a turbocharged model and supercharged model.
The turbocharged model was almost a full second quicker stock.
The ion and cobalt ss should be binded with a turbo, GM made a big mistake and only idiots will buy into a $20k cobalt when they could of bought of the srt-4 for the same price range.

IF that 14.6 time is right, I will deffinately change my mind about possibly buying an SRT4. That's a big IF.
It would also depend how much effieciency is left in the blower. I almost starting saving to buy the TRD blower for the Matrix, but it's efficiency is maxed out, which leaves no room for a pulley and I said screw it. If you can get more PSI out of the blower, I think it might respond better and easier to mod then an SRT4. The SRT4's exhaust manifold and turbo is all together, which means to do a turbo upgrade, you'd have to buy headers and a turbo. It's easier to slap another blower on.
We'll have to wait until we see some real track times, and how well the stock blower responds to pulley swaps. We all know to take mag times with a grain of salt.
The SRT's are running low 14's high 13's out of the box. And with a few hundred $$ in mods, they're good for mid-low 13's. If the cobalt really does run a mid 14, they aren't that far behind. I would love to see them compete with the SRT4, but I don't think it will happen this year.
Both engines have already proved they can handle serious power with out opening the block.
Remember, SRT-4s only ran something like mid-low 14's with the 03's ;)<a href=\"http://pics.projectpredator.com/thumbnails.php?album=16\" target=\"_blank\">2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT</a> 1 of 701<br />ET : TBD<br />But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun! That 14.6 time IS right. I have MotorTrend & Car and Driver, both ran testdrives on them.
The Cobalt SS's BIGGEST advantage is the fact that it out handles the Impreza WRX, the SRT-4, the Civic SI, the Golf GTI.. It may be slightly slower stock vs stock in a straight line but eh, that can be fixed with a pulley swap ;)Mustangs.. Oh and the fact that it already has an intercooler.
Who cares about handling... How "Terrible" can the srt-4 handle?
I don't plan on taking my cars down a Slalom anytime soon. And the streets by my house don't have a 60 mph limit with 90 degree turns.
Im guessing you bought your S-10 for its superior handling right?

They are so much better.
The Evo 8 and STI are compared with the Corvette.
Thats how much better they are then the rest.
The Srt-4 reminds me of a new gen DSM without all the nasty problems the DSMs had.
Dont even bring up handling... obviously we didn't buy f-bodies because we like a car that handles well. LOL

The cobolt has a air/water intercooler.
My truck has feeling to you know. I think you hurt her feeling and now I have to convince her that she can handle well enough to try autocrossing this summer. 92 S10 3800 A4(96)<br />1/4: 14.374 @ 92.25 w/ 1.976 60\'<br />Turbo and 12\'s Coming Soon!
