Damn ignorant v8 owner..

Ok, so I work at a place with a few fbody guys.. My GM has a supercharged LT1 95 Trans Am.. runs 12.3s (light boost btw)... and this other guy who deals with deliveries has a lt1 formula 94 or 95 and he runs low 14s. So i was talking to the latter a bit today and I was like. *I'm getting my msd coils and ignition installed in about 2 weeks, my z28 3.42 rear end, and my headers, custom y pipe and electric cutout installed all before the end of the month*
He says something along the lines of *cool*
I say yeah, all that coupled with what I have now, I should be inching close to high 14s.. if not be in them easily. The dude starts to ****ing laugh. He's like, "you've got a v6 and a complete exhaust *headers back* will give you about a .1 in the quarter mile" I'm like "you're smoking crack dude how do you figure" He responds, "well it's only a v6"

AND HE PROVIDES NO LOGICAL EXPLANATION TO WHY I WOULDN'T BE CLOSE TO 14s.. just bc it's a six. I'm like, you are so ****ing ignorant.. what do you know about my car, or it's engine? Your engine puts out about 280hp and a entire exhaust will give you what in the quarter mile, .4-.5 sec? if not more.. so i say my engine puts out nearly 3/4 of what you're running and i'll only get .1? you're an idiot..
so we go on and on... and I end up saying... you're just ****ing upset bc my little six will be in the 14s with your big 8 and you can't handle that, then I walked away.

sorry about the rant.. i hear everyone else talk about ignorance from other people.. but it had never affected me before..

but honestly.. i never made that assumption.. i know he runs like a 14.2 at 97mph and i know i wouldn't be close to that.. i'm simply saying i could squeak into the 14s and he laughed it off.. i called him a ****ing tool and he wasn't too happy

I told some guy this weekend, who was checking out my car, that it was a V6 and he told me I was "pushing 280 horsepower." Then I said it was a 3.4. Then I was "pushing 220 horsepower."

He had a 96 Trans Am that got 20rwhp from moving the Air Sensor!

I hate it when someone mentions that I do stuff to my car....because suddenly I'm thrust into some conversation with a stranger trying to talk engines with me....even though the first 2 sentences out of his mouth instantly make me aware that he couldn't tell plastigage from a main bearing.

When I'm at car shows or the track, I make it a habit NOT to talk to anyone...unless they have a legitimate question.

i'm fine with most of the idiotic things people around here think about my car... they think it's the fastest in our school :D . i'm fine with them thinking that. i don't correct them lol.

one kid has a GTP, another has an IROC, and one has a '69 mustang fastback. they all think the GTP is just another grand prix and that the other two are too old to be fast. i'll let them think that lol.

When I took this new job, people saw my car and said it was cool. Someone asked me what I had in it, when I said "six" those same people constantly rag on me. My response "You'd have never known it was a 6 without me telling you. Piss off"

Well it goes along the lines if he had the same mods as you did, or half them, he wouldn't be looking at 14s. Stock LT1s are 14.0 cars and its old technology.

But he does sound like a fool. 3.42s and posi have gotten goes close to high 14s easy. And thats stock cause of the Y87 package.
