Damn ignorant v8 owner..

Comment from a snot-nosed kid at the car show last Sunday:
"Hey, is that "only" a 6?"

Most common comments:
Why did you go with a 6?
Why didn't you get an 8?
Is this a 6 or 8?
(most people don't know what the hell they're looking at)

Other dumb comments:
"Wow, turbo"...
EWWW, nos...
wow, 350 with blower and nitrous..
"I'd hate to work on this car, half the motor's under the dash."
"how do you change the spark plugs?"
And the list goes on...

There are a lot of nice comments I get too. In fact, I'd say 90%+ of the comments are very positive. It's only the people who don't know too much about cars that have something negative to say. Unfortunately, we remember THOSE remarks because it's like a put down to something we love. CASE IN POINT: my brother always use to say "mine is faster" (he's got a 94'Z28). I use to say "not for long, the supercharger is coming." Then he would say something like, "well, it's still a 6"...and so forth..this bugged the hell outta me and I went to work (to show him up). Later, I started bringing some 13, 12, and eventually 11 second timeslips home from the track to show him (his Z28 ran a low 14). Now, he just says: "that car has too much power, you better be careful with it." [img]graemlins/bowdown.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/rofl.gif[/img]


My advice: throw nitrous on it, don't tell him, and then bet money.. [img]graemlins/naughty.gif[/img]

Now that I think about it, I can tell you that for some idiotic reason, most people are totally overwhelmed when they hear about or see nitrous on the car...the whole V6 negativity basically goes out the window when you have a bottle. Same applies to having a supercharger or turbo also... that's one thing I noticed going from a stock car to a modified one. :cool:

v6 is slow, sell it, and buy an LS1 formula 6sp... low 13's stock, high 12's with minor boltons... that's what I call a fast car.

My roomates rag on me all the time because one drives a vette and the other a GT mustang. Tell me to buy a new car and stop wasting money on my car, ect. If I keep this car... everything is paid for. If I sell this car, I have to pay for everything. They don't seem to understand this concept lol. While I'm in college I'll go with the all expenses (besides modding) paid transportation thank you.

correction, there is no way a bolt on modded v6 can come close to a newer stock v8.

my car has ran a 14.5 and that ws before my hypertech. that was just on exhaust and a K&N Filter. i haven't had it to the track yet with the hypertech. i about sh*t myself when i saw the timeslip and it said 14.5. One of my friends use to have a boosted LT1 with a Vortech and a ton of mods.. best he did was a 12.9. I think something was wrong with the car.. [img]graemlins/popcorn.gif[/img]

my boss is only running 4.5-5lbs of boost, 3.73s, kevlar built trans, headers, 3inch slp dynomax, low stall torque converter.. that's about it me thinks.. 12.3 isn't too shabby with that
